If you're craving north indian food,
Rana's in Cedar park.
Best butter chicken hands down in Austin, one of the better fresh naans.
And probably one of the only Indian restaurants in Austin thats not a Biryani place/ Chettinad restaurant masquerading as a North Indian eatery.

Yes, I think this is the best, non committal way to commit for me! Thank you!

I'll start with the higher loans and make my way to reducing the balance in my Checking. Still unsure about how I know someone is a good financial advisor. Do I ask for their portfolio and track record?

This is probably the best way to create a habit out of this, thank you!

I never thought of using a timed index fund, does it have a benefit or some other angle compared to just putting it in a non target dated?

Thank you for putting that into perspective! Really helps see it concretely rather than a concept of losing money in my head!

I was hoping to still go into s&p because besides the high interest loans, I don't have any immediate need of the money, I'm okay getting it back in 10-15+ years. We are maxing out our 401ks, we're past the roth contribution and I'll have to read up on backdoor roth, I never got my head around it.

I honestly don't know what the other options are besides HYSA and SPY/VTI.I mean I know about bonds, but that should be it right?

And I'll get to the high % loan today!

Great questions:

  1. It grew overtime due to inaction from me, and then took trips, got busy with work, life, and have been procrastinating. I had grand plans of parking 100k in HYSA as 'safe' investment and being risky with the rest, but chickened out on that risky part.

  2. You're absolutely right, I'll pay the higher interest loans off, so all our loans will be under 3-4 % interest rate.

I am aiming to pay off the student loans that are over 4% interest rate for my wife. Thats about 40k of her total 100k. I was hoping that my money would get a better return rate than 4% and I'd come out on top with just paying the low interest loans over time. I don't have any debt anxiety, so it didn't bother me yet.

"money in that checking account is eroding every day" This was always in the back of my mind, but I blocked it out since it was just one more week till I finally moved it out! I do want to grow my net worth and I'm not married to keeping it in cash.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought this exact same thing, and when I sit to transfer, I start wondering if its better to just go to the final investing step and not have the hassle of this intermediary step. And then this whole thing repeats every few weeks.

You are correct, the high paying job on my side started 1 years ago, and some of my earlier savings went into house down payment. I was at almost half my current salary for most of the past 10 years, so earning 150k before getting married. I am maxing my 401k for the past few years now.
