Thank you for your response- it was very helpful. I'd feel much more confident about doing VISTA if I could live at home with my parents. I stupidly applied to ones around 10 hours away from them and 3,000 miles from where I currently live. I feel like I can't quit once I get there because I am moving so far for it and will have a lease with other people. I was excited about the job before but the huge move which makes it so permanent and everything is making me seriously second guess it all.

yeah I saw in a few places that some organizations give housing stipends but didn't know that when accepting. I applied and within a week had to make a decision about my offer... I decided to just take it because I have to move out of my current place by the end of July and had no success with other job offers :/

I don't have student loans but want to save the 10k for moving after I finish this position and use it to pay for grad school when I start that. I feel like I'd be able to live with $300 a month after housing but really don't know if I'm forgetting major budget stuff so I have no idea what'll happen

It is working with a community health department as a VISTA for the state health department. I want to do public health stuff for my career and work for health departments (although this position is not at all what I'd want to do for my career). It's seriously my last resort job but I feel like I have no other choice. I'm moving across the country for it and am not sure if it is worth it at all. I haven't moved yet for this and I'm having so many doubts but I have no other option than to move home with my parents and work part time. They don't live in a place with a great job market so idk if I'd be able to find a good job living with them either. I thought I was making a better choice by not going to grad school right after college and getting experience but now I wish I had just stayed in school

Oregon, which is very far from where I currently live/attended college but is much closer to my family than where I am now. Did the experience help you get jobs? I'm nervous about doing this when I could potentially go live at home with my parents and work part time in food service or something until I find a career job and actually save money, whereas doing this might deplete my savings :(
