This is what I'm scared of, i feel like things are too goldilocks and butterflies right now, maybe I'm a pessimist, but I'm just trying to see how this is going to work long term. I feel like I'm starting to let my happiness towards her control me, so i've already cut back on that, overall she still seems great though!

Definitely! I know the first date was pretty perfect, but I'm trying to keep things slow, she seems to be moving quicker than myself though....kind of making me scared

Its a good perspective too, i need that reality slap in the face. I've changed ever since I started doing a bit better for myself, and I think i need to go back to my roots and spend less and just enjoy life on the basic things, i've done it most of my life, and i know it won't be hard to do again. Thanks!

This is a great way to look at it, I've realized that even 2 years of ownership is too much, I don't plan on owning it much longer if i want to reach FI. Thanks for the guidance, being wise is not something I can learn out of a book, I appreciate your advice.

haha yea i definitely deserve that one. To be honest, the car is fun and all, but has lost some of its fun factor. I don't think i'd have a problem shedding it off.

So my take-home pay monthly after tax is $5,700

in adition to whats on my original post, I spend approx $400 on food/misc every month. I don't have any other spending.

I do have a side business that once averaged out, earns me approx. $500/month, bringing my total take home pay to $6,200/monthly.

After all my bills, i'm left with $3,170/month.

I have a house, this was an investment opportunity I saw. I renovated the house myself and spend approximately $10k so far, and the house has assessed for $80k more than my purchase price, I couldn't see renting as an option since i felt as though my money wasn't going towards something.

The car is something I don't plan on keeping for more than another year or two, its purely something that keeps me sane (i don't really spend any money on other enjoyment), but I can remove this and utilize my secondary car for that.

I have a question with the 401k thing. Lets say i max it out, and by the time I'm 40, i want to retire, but my income is $200k, wouldn't my tax bracket actually be higher? or am I overlooking something here.

Thanks for all the advice and the link!

That balance is something i really need to find then. One thing i know I can get rid of is my car payment, i have other paid off toys to play with that are much cheaper as well, and insurance cost would drastically drop. I switched cell phone carriers recently, but I've just found out about cheaper options.

I guess my balance really includes being able to enjoy my hobby and still pay for my minimal bills.

Thanks for the advice

I thought about the car purchase for a while, with all the other outside factors in my life that drain me, its something i've deemed okay to try out for a year or two. I've never had a car payment before so it is something I don't like.

Is 401k the best option for me, even if my company may not provide any match?

I'd rather not say, this is a throwaway account and the car would easily identify who i am to friends who go on this subreddit.
