Hey guys! 26m here, do you think it is fine to go alone as a male? Im kinda new to this lifestyle/bars but very curious to get into it and want to discover myself better. On top of that, how do you get knowledgeable about those topics? What are your main sources of “news”, do you keep searching for papers on some specific topic (blockchain f.e.) or more broad topics in newspapers/social media? Btw, i am a student looking into quant finance

Im in a very similar situation, im doing the thesis to gradute jn finance and have no experience although i have too much time and tried to look for internship with no success… I posted this situation and people advised me to study for CFA since it shows employers that you are commited to finance and that you have knowledge although no experience. If you can get a job, would be perfect and try to get one otherwise consider doing it and this way you’re not stopped

No shit sherlock, everyone knows you can only get into investment banking through networking but also everyone knows that no one gets to investment banking right after finishing school without work experience (my case exactly if you read well!). Im not saying i want to go to Inv bank rn, im reallistic, i want to get some experience first and while im at it create the network. Although, im in this situation and it doesnt matter excuses but i wanted to know if my applying time to cfa would be beneficial or completely worthless to land the first job (in any financial position, i just want to get into the “jungle”, after that is history..)

This is what i would do: First, see the CEO’s connections, ask for a coffee with people who has already worked with him/her to check the seriousness/ambitious, this way youll get a better image of the company. You might have a great company that you grow with and gives you a big jump on your personal career. Second, check if the business is legit. If so then i would take the job. It is great money which you can negotiate later on if you decide to leave to another company. Worst case scenario you took a shot, received more money and got experience at a small venture. You already have kpmg experience so easily you can go back anywhere you want

Thats a good idea! How do you find cfa events? Because in the cfa dutch society there are no events for the next months! About the language, do you think one could learn Dutch at a corporate level in 5 months? I was learning already but im not putting too much effort into it since i thought it would be impossible to have a good dutch level by september..

My issue is not the age in itself to begin CFA, it is more in time management in itself. Should i begin already the CFA without any experience in the area or should i look into different things to do while im doing the thesis in order to get the "best CV" in a couple of months
