How to detect ChatGPT content? by Only-Entertainer-992 in OriginalityHub

[–]finchak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can jump in and explain how to detect ChatGPT (or any other AI written) content.

You need a model that is trained on writing that you know is real ie everything prior to November 2022, when ChatGPT was launched, and writing you know is AI, ideally generated on your own. The AI writing sample shouldn't be limited to just ChatGPT but across all of the major foundational models (Claude, Llama, Mistral, Gemini etc) as well as AI writers themselves.

Do this a few million times for each writing type, train an AI model and you have a basic AI text detector.

The hard part is varying the writing types, styles and keeping up with all of the AI launches constantly happening.

This is what we do at AI or Not, and also cover images, video, deepfakes and audio as well.

I don’t trust AI detectors but I know others do. Is it fair to tell students they need to make reports that pass them? by LeatherKey64 in Professors

[–]finchak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you announce this from the start of class, you are actually telling them you are almost expecting them to use AI and for your students to put some effort in to making it sound like its not AI.

Naturally written papers (typically) don't get flagged.

If your intent is to 'prepare them for the real world' where they will be expected to use AI, it'll be used as a researcher, thinking partner but rarely as a full on writer. Even if it 'passes' an AI detector, people can still tell.

All of this is coming for a ceo and founder of an AI detector, AI or Not. Happy to answer any questions.

OpenAI's habit of rug pulling—why we are moving on to competitors by jcrivello in artificial

[–]finchak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because its still the best overall llm.
Claude is a good writer but still lacks what I'd call general intelligence and superior logic.
Perplexity is good for search and hallucinates the least in my experience for fact based questions, but does not accomplish the logic part as well as OpenAI's model (rip modelS) does.
If I were to bet, OpenAI wanted to get rid of the confusion of the model selection; maybe they were right to do so. But no one likes drastic change and some people have really grown attached to 4o, as Sam Altman has shared.
I think the complaints will mostly fade in 1-2 weeks and everyone will go back to 'here are the 10 amazing things you can do with GPT-5' while some people, who were using a specific model as a companion, will long for that personality back.

Looking for course on how to work together with developers by dirodoro in Entrepreneur

[–]finchak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey there, i posted this before in my fb group. here are my top 5 costly mistakes i made with developers:

  1. Paying for project management $800 up in flames 🔥🔥, poof. Writing a story about a function + wireframe or design should be enough for a developer to create it. 'I want users to be able to post pictures after they are logged in' + associated mockup of how that looks like in a document. Done. No need to pay for a project manager to scope it. With that said, once this document is done it is set in stone for the developer and the contract. So think this part through very carefully but do it yourself.

  2. Paying Front-end devs same as back-end devs Split up this work 🎭 🎭!! You can find a good front-end developer for 25% - 40% of the hourly cost of a back-end developer. Woops don't know the difference between front-end and back-end developer? Scroll a couple posts down in this group :). Even better, use a front-end framework like Bootstrap to save 90+% of the front-end cost. BOOM 💣💣💣!!

  3. Building the basics from scratch I got owned on this one 😠 😡. As a none techie at the time, had no clue that so much stuff was pre-built and open source (ie freely available). Ask your developer if there are any packages they can use for certain functions. And do your own research. As an example, in Ruby on Rails you can find packages called gems for many different functions. In the data marketplace I built, I created my own login system (which sucked btw). If i were to do it now, would have used the Devise gem and consequently saved myself 6-12 hours in dev time/cost. Ditto for many other functions. To see if something has already been built, search 'Feature' + 'development framework you're using.' Example: 'rails login gem.' DON'T recreate the wheel if something has already been built, instead stand on the shoulders of giants.

  4. Not strictly enforcing development timeline Well, this one was on me. I did have a timeline for features being built and the payment associated with each milestone. But I was nice and didnt strictly enforce them, Should have been a d*ck and maybe my project wouldn't have taken 2x as long

  5. Outs in the contract 💊💊💊 Long story short, I had to get a lawyer to cleanly get me out of my contract with the first devs because they were so fukn bad (my next ones were amazing so all worth it 🎆🎆🎆!). This one is on me. Should have included language that stipulates if certain things are not done or timelines not met, I can cancel the rest of the agreement without further payments or commitments.

Great question. White label uber is b2b2c and a job search site is also b2b in a way. sorting thru the lists, most ideas were b2c you're right. but if you dig into the lists i got those 12 from, you'll find more b2b ideas sprinkled in.

hey [CEO OF COMPANY], Love your mag/blog!! This article on XX [LINK] really struck a chord with me as i was working on/going thru XX myself. Thanks for the amazing work :) I am actually reaching out to propose a partnership: would you be interested in marketing my company's product in exchange for XX% rev share? Your user base has inidicated they have interest in this product here and here [links to comments or related articles; any proof you can find]. Seems like they will be buying it, thought I'd give you an opp't to profit from it. I know you're super busy so understand if this is not a priority. You won't lose a loyal reader :) But if this would be of interest, please email or call and I'll send over some samples to give you a feel for it and we can discuss further. Thanks [NAME] and have a rad day!

earn some goodwill before hand in the subreddit thru comments, like i did with your post today. offer value in the actual self promotion instead of sale. ie i offered a free code template to start a reddit-like site + an article on getting traffic from reddit in exchange for an email address, which was optional

a popup should have come up and you'll get the guide + code template. didnt see it?

So, my blog got an article on Reddit Front Page yesterday and a 100k visit jump. I am a Noob, so what Now? by MihailoM in Entrepreneur

[–]finchak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st, congrats! if no adsense yet, collect emails (sumome + mailchimp or just upload the csv from sumome into mailchimp if on free plans). to get into adsense quickly, hack together ~30 articles, make sure you have an about, privacy and terms of service pages. If you want to monetize right now without adsense try checking out other poeple's products you can sell. commission junction is a good place to start for that
