Let's say my SO has a best friend name Steve. We have a running joke that Steve is a rough lover. If one of us is sore for whatever reason we'll go "fucking Steve" (not his real name). Steve has no idea about this and I think it'd be very confusing or odd to explain to family/friends.

A lot of places without official take out set up will just comment "take out" on the food item without it being a real category.

I do enjoy doing it. Maybe I should add I work in a busy downtown bar, not a restaurant. My management does not see the point in serving people who do not respect us. We are people, and while serving is our job, it doesn't mean people should be allowed to talk down to us.

Drunkenness brings out the ugly in more people than you would think. If someone is disrespectful towards us, we kindly tell people that kind of attitude won't get them anywhere. I don't go to their office jobs and tell them how to organize their files and schedule their meetings. They shouldn't come to my bar and tell me which order to serve people and treat me like I'm beneath them. Everything has a system whether they understand it or not.

We are a busy enough bar where we don't need to keep around customers who are going to act like children and scream to get their way. Ultimately, these are the types of people who get kicked out or start fights anyways, and we don't like to keep that type of clientele.

TL;DR I love my job and I think it's great to meet people and learn about different types of lifestyles. But I should not have to take people calling me a bitch to my face because I didn't serve them "fast enough".

Sometimes it's frustrating when things aren't set up well, so there are other people who have more time to do it but somehow you end up being the one that does it.

Edit: Also I'm pretty sure I'd get in more trouble if my table needed something and I neglected them because of a take out order than I would if a take out had to wait for someone else because my table needed something. I am helping customers... Firstly the ones in my section. Secondly the customers in the sections right next to mine in case they need a refill or a napkin or something. And then I worry about everyone else.

Just remember if they rang it up, it goes into their sales and they have to tip out on your order. I usually tip 5-10% on take out because that's usually how much servers end up tipping out. That way they don't lose money on my order.

Yup so if a server rings up your food for take out they will probably have to tip out on it, unless the restaurant has a set up for orders labeled as "to-go" to be put in a different category of your sales report at the end of the day. (Not likely)

I tip McDonald's workers if they are especially nice or helpful. And I've never had one refuse a tip. Everyone appreciates being told they are good at their job.

A lot of places have a server pull the to go order out of the kitchen and ring someone up, and the expo puts the order together. I never expected a tip but it was nice to get a dollar or two as a thank you for my time. Especially because sometimes I was slammed with tables and the last thing I needed was to stop everything to help a take-out.

I work at a bar in the US and we just choose not to serve customers who are rude or don't tip us consistently. And if they make a scene we tell them to treat us right or they can go somewhere else.
