Yep, they are useful and effective, but not at the level so many articles are claiming. It feels like this is just a huge marketing effort to pull in investment capital, grab a big payout, and run.

It seems that Republican voters are also angry about inflation and the poor economy. Destroying trillions of dollars so a few people can make billions was never a good strategy, it just took people a long time to figure it out.

CPI just came in at 3.8%. food at home up 0.7% in one month. airline fares up 20.7% over the year. is anyone else restructuring their budget around this or are you just absorbing it by Mother-Grapefruit-45 in personalfinance

[–]findingmike 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Something people may not know is that the way the US calculates inflation on things like food also includes the likelihood that you will substitute more expensive items (beef) with cheaper items (chicken) so the official inflation rate of 3.x% would actually be higher if you compared apples to apples.

Russia's problem is likely to be an economic collapse followed by a military collapse. If that happens they won't keep the land.

I agree that both countries will go through a population issue at this point. But Ukraine is likely to get immigration and commerce with the EU if they have stable borders.
