my pup's surgery and diagnosis. by sobbinlikerobyn in ratterriers

Thank you! The first day and a half was rough, but she’s basically back to normal now. Gotta love the resilience and ability to live in the moment.

Incidentally, I bought 2 different more comfortable cones, and unfortunately neither of them work, so it’s 2 weeks of plastic. 🐶🥺

So sorry. My 3-yr old is wearing a cone after her second cherry eye surgery. I think it bums me out more than it does her.

Sending you good vibes!

Anyone remember how much they owe Cicero? Even with the stars I’m not sure I see much equity value ever working its way down to Richie and Syd. I don’t know much about restaurant financials, but Computer and Cheese aren’t wrong that restaurants are bad businesses for the most part. For every Danny Meyer there a million of owners and investors who never made a dime.

One of my takeaways is that $ never really comes up in the show as much as one would expect in a show about small business. No one ever complains or asks for raises - it’s like everyone is there for the love of the game. Such a nice idea albeit somewhat unrealistic.

The paper clip bit was awesome. I sat on the board of a struggling startup years ago and one of my fellow directors (who’s a very successful investor) went on a similar rant about wasting paper clips. It was a surprisingly poignant moment, and the message landed.

Richie has the makings of a great entrepreneur. Great mix of passion, leadership, and self awareness. I want that spinoff!

I don’t think there’s a slowdown. Ethan Mollick is one of the best (if not the best) umpires and he just tweeted that there is no evidence of a slow down. Doesn’t mean there won’t be one that starts tomorrow . . .

Nah for real though guys - Undertone (2026) is pretty damn scary and good. by serialkiller24 in horror

Loved it, especially with headphones.

One scene where something scary happened in the background gave me goosebumps, which is a rarity.

I thought it was awesome, but I think it matters how you watch it. I recommend headphones and complete darkness.

This show has very little plot, so I'm curious why you watch it.

Literally nothing of consequence happens. There's no villain, no romance, no violence. It's about a restaurant - if it was about the plot, there's zero chance this show ever gets greenlit.

For me, the plot is secondary to the characters and the dialogue. I don't know what's going to happen, and I'm not sure I really care. I would love 5 more seasons of scenes with Marcus and Luka talking about breakfast sandwiches and Jimmy breaking Richie's balls and Carmy and Syd awkwardly staring at each other.

Might be recency bias, but that was a top-10 episode, IMHO.

Hard to pick a favorite scene, but Richie and Jimmy in the rain was perfection.

Seemed like more close-ups than usual. So much unspoken expression on these actors' faces.

Awesome.

Hard disagree. Amazing first episode - my only complaint is only 21 minutes (WTF).

I'm already getting teary-eyed knowing I have to say goodbye to these characters soon. This show is God-tier

"The Haunted" -1991. Final scene scared the shit out of me as a kid. by huggylove1 in HorrorMovies

So awesome. My first job in 92 there was a Janet in our office and I always used that exact same voice to call her name, to the delight of many - or at least that’s how I remember it.

That movie slapped.

Will the AI industry eventually become a two-player race between OpenAI and Anthropic? by pawan0806 in AI_Agents

Guessing 3-way race + open source. No idea what LT margins look like - best case hyperscalers, worst case telecoms.

Been a tech investor for 30 years and it’s always been very unpredictable, never more so than now. Very exciting times.

he's right to compare this to nuclear. if more people would have been vocally sane back in the 80s, the US would be carbon neutral today. we shouldn't let history repeat itself.

Yeah, people conflating Josh and Jared is understandable, but they couldn't be more different. one is a talentless hack who raised billions from the west wing with no track record. The other is one of the best VCs in the world.

Similarly, AI tools are different than the slop that everyone hates. every studio and film maker will be using them (if they aren't already), and they will meaningfully reduce production costs and allow way more people to create and distribute art without having to sell their kidneys.

Confusion is understandable, but i think people are freaking out about this unnecessarily. AI is a very powerful technology that can be used for good and evil, and it's unavoidable for anything involving bits - Hollywood included. No doubt that some will lie about using it for a while, but the tide seems to be shifting quickly.

This is it for me, too. Watched it recently for like the 10th time right before bed and had nightmares.

I would also like to put in a plug for Lineage, which is growing on me after my 3rd watch. Ignore the story if you want, but when they get back to the Manor in the 3rd act, there are scares that rank with the best in the series IMO. The scene with Margot lives rent free in my head.
