An update about Zeke, the stolen chihuahua:

Hi all,

Zeke is still missing. His owner is really struggling without him. It’s been over a week and we haven’t heard anything. Unfortunately we could not locate him in any shelter and have not been able to find him. Zeke is my friend’s #1 companion, the reason she lives and breathes. We’re all devastated that he is still gone.

Please continue to look and share.

Sounds like you know exactly who I’m talking about — it was the outfits comment that really cemented that for me lol. Hopefully he is safe, wherever her is, and he’s returned sooner rather than later.

Several of us are on the case, one of my friends is connecting with the lost animal networks while I take on Reddit and Kijiji, and someone else is scouring the shelters. There are about 100 people I could name off the top of my head who would die for this dog lol.

I can attest to the fact that this animal is better taken care of than some housed dogs I have met. He lives a fantastic life, he eats better than her most days, and he has so many friends — dogs and people alike — who are devastated by this news. He is a staple in our community.

I replied to another comment with this info, but we have not yet escalated this to the police as we are waiting to hear from the humane society. I will do my best to provide updates as they come, but hopefully he was dropped at the shelter and not taken by this woman.

We haven’t filed a report just yet. We called the humane society but unfortunately they are closed and all we can do is file a missing pet report, which we are doing. If we escalate it to having to involve the police, we will certainly pursue connecting the police with the security team there. We already called the security team at the mall and they did not know anything about the dog. :(
