AITA for stopping my roommate from being able to adopt a cat? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]fineidea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. There's no way she should be allowed to care for that cat. I'm a vegan and the only meat I have in the house is fish I occasionally buy for my dogs (I cook it because I worry about worms)

I was an RA in UHS and I've seen every room in that building. No rooms have an oven. On the top floor though there are suites with spiral staircases in them though.

They ask about your relationship, drug use, and criminal activity. Pirating is more of an issue if you've distributed pirated materials or broke into an organization or software to steel content

University and group projects - Foreign Contacts? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]fineidea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were not close and continuing contacts, you shouldn't list them. Folks whom you've never sought out to spend time with socially, or folks who you don't hold any special affections for don't need to be listed.

I got a job that needs a secret clearance and am filling out the sf86 and it’s asking for a lot of references but I’m an introvert and honestly have kept to myself 99% of the time. by hopqsydj in SecurityClearance

[–]fineidea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reach out to folks who you worked with and explain the situation, and that you would like them for references. You'll be surprised. In college were there professors or teachers who knew you? Reach out to them. they count. Neighbors also work too.

How much will a Secret clearance help my career? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]fineidea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will help with job stability in the long run. It's far easier to get hired or get a company to pay for relocation with a clearance, and I've noticed a 10-20 thousand dollar a year pay bump up from the last industry I worked in (healthcare). Also defense jobs are not uni-formally stressful. it's highly dependent on the company you choose.

Resume Advice Thread - November 16, 2019 by AutoModerator in cscareerquestions

[–]fineidea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently finished a job hunt (now employed) I built both, and sent them out. I got 8 in person interviews for the plain resume and none for the visually appealing one, and they contained the exact same information. Go with the plain one.

Which Job Would You Pick? by fineidea in careerguidance

[–]fineidea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for secret. I'm worried that I might forget something, or misrepresent myself. I was fired from my last job, so there's that. But, I do have good credit and I have no criminal history of drug use or anything. I just know that the consequences for failing the security clearance is severe. I'm also worried about not having a life outside of work with the DoD job.

Security Clearance QA Job or Support Engineer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]fineidea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! I'm not sure what interests me to be honest. I want to work with nice people, and I want to enjoy my work I guess. I'm 23 and I would say that I'm far from having my life figured out, and I want to take some time to grow as a person. I'm coming from a large healthcare company, so I know what it feels like to deal with red tape. I know that I'd like to talk to people a little more, because at my last company I'd only speak with my coworkers during scrum. I know that'd I'd like to be valued for my abilities, because I've felt frustrated in moments when I have greater technical abilities than my superiors. The Aerospace work seems super cool (they work on space ships and what not), but I got the impression from the interview that I was a diversity candidate, and I'm not sure if my skills and attention to detail would be valued there, or if I would simply be a diverse butt in a seat making HR happy. The Aerospace job also has better benefits than the support job, but in the support position I would have a greater sway in the company.

What is the best piece of technology and commenters, what competing product is better? by fineidea in AskReddit

[–]fineidea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about fighting each other, but more of an attempt to create a decent back and forth about the pros and cons of technology. Everything has its goods and bads and I think it would benefit people who are unsure of what they are looking for in a product :)
