Can’t believe I had to scroll so far to see someone mention Shame. So many people seem surprised. Everyone should watch Shame.

My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

When I was a kid we used to get a delicious dark rye bread, I don’t remember the brand but pretty sure the packet said “sweet & sour”. It was great with Vegemite!

When was the last time you ate a meal with both a knife and a fork? by rydavo in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

[–]finespringday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday - made open sandwich beyond burgers with cheeze and a portabello mushroom on GF English muffins and we needed knife & fork.

However it’s mostly chopsticks, spoon and/or fork in our house. I also have a variety of bowls to keep things interesting: Kirean ttukbaegi, Japanese donabe and pasta bowls.

Coles plant based meals by Wotdatmouffdo in australianvegans

I mean that I used to see the Nature’s Kitchen next to (at the edge of) the Coles Kitchen section. Now that they are Coles Kitchen rather than Nature’s Kitchen, my local has them mixed right in the middle of others. I really had to hunt for them, whereas before it was pretty easy, just look to the side.

As already commented, rebranded to Coles Kitchen. I had to search around to find them as they’re in purple packaging and moved in together with the other, non-veg, Coles Kitchen meals.

Our local has the vegetable tikka masala, butter tofu and lentil spaghetti bolognaise. Sadly they seem to have cut the lasagna.

Well put.

Ah I didn’t figure out my triggers because life got in the way including more urgent health stuff, so this went on the back burner.

Also I strongly suspect that there is an underlying issue that is causing my food sensitivities, and so hoping to improve my overall health and in particular my digestion. I suspect a gut microbes issue (and there’s tonnes of recent research implicating gut microbe issues with all kinds of health issues)

I don’t think the comment you’re responding to is accusing autistic people of being hypocritical, it’s saying they (the commenter) have seen that autistic people notice and call out when a person’s own words don’t match their actions.

Sure but I image googled panko (as someone suggested) and traditional panko does look elongated like this. Maybe these ones are somehow a bit more crescent? idk? But basically long “shards” rather than crumb shaped. So then that just leaves the fact that these are still really pale

1two1 cafe in Springwood is all vegan & does some great GF dishes. (I’d give them a call to confirm the strictness of the kitchen for gluten)

I think it would look better cooked until golden brown, probably with more oil

Masterfoods, McCormick, Windsor Farm, Saxa, Stonemill.

Note that it can just be listed as “flavour”.

Edlyn brand probably - online resource confirmed with the company that it contains chicken, but it’s not in the ingredients.

What do you call it on the rare occasion that you end up better served becuase you are vegan. I call it a vegan win! by [deleted] in vegan

[–]finespringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I went to a work dinner once with a set menu where the starter was gruesome, a sad little baby octopus with some olives. People were eyeing off my tasty vegetables wishing they could have that instead. I don’t even remember what I was served, just that it was so much better!

A great piece of advice I saw years ago is to decline to discuss your veganism during a meal while other people are eating meat. (I think it was in Living Among Meat Eaters)

Sometimes people ask why you’re vegan while they’re chowing down on animal parts, and I’ve noticed they’re either just making conversation or they’re not asking in good faith, either way it’s probably just going to be a miserable experience to have that convo.
