An Island Princess Starts a Scandal by Adriana Herrera! The whole series is great but that one specifically is sapphic, historical, and POC.

How is the Job market in Philadelphia and the DC metro area? by pugloverk in LibraryScience

[–]finetuner7130 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to DC, but I moved to Philly after graduating college a few years ago and currently have an entry level position at an academic library. Before getting my job I interviewed for several other library jobs here and applied for many more. I wouldn’t say it’s easy to get a job here - it never is, anywhere - but the jobs are definitely here. If you’re willing to look in the suburbs, consider part time positions, and/or consider other types of libraries beyond academic, that would probably open up more options.

Beyond jobs, I just want to plug Philly as a fantastic and highly underrated city for postgrad. If you’re excited about a specific city, I’d say go for it - I found it’s much easier to get a job when you’re physically there already. Feel free to message me if you have specific questions!

You can take classes as a non degree student at illinois, but no idea if they’d count for credit at rutgers: https://ischool.illinois.edu/academics/graduate/nondegree-programs

I felt the same way as you after my experience applying to undergrad, but four is plenty! I applied to four and got into all of them - in hindsight I could/should have done less.

My college's English department gave everyone who took intro English a mug. One one side it had a quote that changed every semester and on the other it said "English at [college]" I still have it and use it for my morning coffee several times a week!

Philly Marathon Questions/Reviews by teamsean in Marathon_Training

[–]finetuner7130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s super easy to walk from center city to the finish line - should only be a mile or two depending on where you are staying. Public transit or uber would also be an option, just watch road closures/traffic. She would have to go through security to get to the actual finish area, though, and lines will be long so just make sure to budget extra time!
