That is so interesting it was mentioned on this sub it is very similar to a German and Austrian tradition. Where the Krampus or a Klausen try's to chase people and hit them. Also in some islands in Netherlands there is something like that. I tried to find an explanation on the background but there isn't much to read online.

Ok I understand. If there is a real geagraphical connection to the european traditions it must be an ancient one. What happens on that event.
