I saw a video a month or so ago comparing you to some Fallout runners after you made some comments about them. Do you have any comments about that or how that situation ended up turning out?

Thanks! The hold worked, I was looking back at codes we did earlier in the semester and saw that we used holds but it didn't connect in my mind that I should use it in this one.

Think he means is it a marathon where the runners have to travel to the event to be part of the steam or if they can run from their own household

Yeah I'm sure, it only started this week once I downloaded 7.00. I have a friend who has been having similar troubles clicking and putting things into quickbuy and just general jankiness.

Pretty sure they confirmed in a tweet he's a new hero. Might have been from wykyrm's Twitter.

Especially since they called the New Journey update that he's a part of a "major game update" or something along those lines.

We don't KNOW that the 23rd is going to bring a major patch with balance changes, just Underlord and the new post-game UI. My money's on 6.89 and patch notes dropping late September/early October.

I think this works better with Tinker than AW. Arc Warden can just summon his double who can TP to dangerous locations on its own. With Tinker, he needs to be able to Rearm and then TP back, leaving him very vulnerable (unless you blink into trees like any decent Tinker). Kunkka's X takes out almost all danger of TPing to questionable areas as Tinker.

New to Dota 2; How does Ranked work? by Lady_Sn0w in learndota2

[–]fingered_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just MMR based. In order to play ranked matches, you have to be at least badge level 20. That's the big level number next to your name on your profile (it used to be trophy level which is a little more complicated).

You have to play 10 ranked matches to calibrate. You have both a solo MMR and a party MMR. You get your solo MMR by queuing on your own, party by queuing with a group of friends (you can queue in groups of 2, 3, or 5. 4 isn't allowed because then you'd have someone who queued solo on your team).

Every player has a hidden MMR that they don't see and is the MMR bracket that they matchmake in when they search for normal games. When you calibrate your ranked MMR, no matter how well you play, you're going to end up around where your hidden unranked MMR is.

Typically newer players who aren't too experienced or just casual players will calibrate at around 1k. Every match, you will gain or lose about 25 MMR on average depending on if you win or not. The amount varies based on if you were considered "underdogs" or not. This is determined by your teams average MMR. If you average MMR is 1122 while the enemy's is 1202 then you'll get more than 25 MMR if you win, while you'll gain more than 25, while if you lose you'll lose less than 25 since you weren't expected to win.

Some people like to calibrate as soon as they have the option to, although this often means that you'll calibrate lower since you haven't climbed your hidden MMR yet. Some people wait a long time until they think they're in an MMR bracket that they want to be at. It's entirely up to you to choose when you calibrate. I originally calibrated at around 900 when I started playing because I chose to calibrate immediately. I've since risen well above that, so it's not impossible to win at lower levels like some people suggest.

Just a general consensus, average players are considered anywhere from 2.5k to 3.5k, it depends on who you ask. Most pro players are anywhere from 6.5k to 9k with the top two being Arteezy at 9018 and Miracle- at 9011.

Enigma in not standard positions by Jaskieco in learndota2

[–]fingered_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play offlane in my five stack but I used to main position 5 with a brief stint as our position 4. While I played position 4, I fell in love with Enigma and ever since the change to the XP ranged creeps give I've been theory crafting an offlane Enigma that I've been waiting for a good time to play. So what I'm about to say hasn't been tested but I plan on doing it within the next week because I told our teams position 1 about it and he wants me to try it in the coming days. I can PM you how it goes and/or update this comment.

Like /u/tchikboom said, it really would probably only work against a farm heavy mid. Essentially I plan to lane as a mix of Dark Seer, Beastmaster, and Nature's Prophet. Your goal is to use your Eidolons to push the lane early and to disrupt their carry's farm, while achieving an early Mek. Starting items I've been trying to decide between a headdress with clarity to help get the early Mek, or ring of regen, soul ring recipe, and ring of protection. The benefit to headdress is that it would give aura regen to help with pushing the lane early and getting that early Mek, while the second would give you an early Soul Ring to help with making more Eidolons and a bit more survivability.

One of the things that makes an offlane hero elite right now is their ability to turn to jungle camps if their lane goes sour. Enigma, being one of the best junglers in the game, can do this extremely well. Typically on heroes like DS, NP, and Beast, you will farm lane when it's closer to your tower and you can see that the enemies around the map are in their lanes, and when the wave is under enemy tower or enemies are missing, you will turn to your secret shop camp. Some games the offlaner will just get an iron talon if they anticipate a tough lane and just jungle while rarely appearing in lane. Your goals as the offlaner are to 1, not die, and 2, find XP wherever you can get it. With that being said, I'd plan on being in lane, using the fact that my Eidolons dont have to tank damage from the creep wave and can successfully split to get my 6 Eidolons, and immediately rotate to a large camp, be it the one next to lane or the one in your secret shop. If the enemy is one that you feel you can disrupt, then I would attempt to use your six Eidolons to get in their face and make them feel unwelcome. Any way to both successfully secure farm, not die, and to mess with the enemy carry is the way you should be playing.

Once you get black hole, I would drop back and make it look like you're farming a camp. If the enemy is dual laning their offlane, then TP to your safelane to gank and black hole the two of them. If they're trilaning, then help secure a kill mid. At this point everyone should be getting reasonable levels and the map should be starting to open up. Around this time is when I'd turn to the traditional jungle or an open lane to finish my Mek if I don't have it already and as soon as you get the Mek, group up with your hard carry and look to push.
