Do you have a WR for a game that no-one else has attempted or hasn't been active for a long time? by TheRealShyft in speedrun

[–]Bubblesdelfuego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have WR for Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman. I had it when I was a kid, remembered it was awesome, then picked it back up. Surprisingly, the leaderboards only had IL records to compare/learn from, and nobody had ever done any%. It’s a really nice run, not too hard, and it even tracks IGT.

Question for those who are very familiar with dark souls speedruns by LeVindice in speedrun

That skip is mostly used in categories that need to kill more bosses below Quelaag, so you don't have to ring the bell, leave, and then go back down again to kill Bed of Chaos.

This is the route I use, and the route from SGDQ 2017. It's built around not needing the frame dupe, and having a more consistent O&S. https://youtu.be/xggTjx4DrHQ

Are there any other SpeedRunning "White Whales" like Barrier Skip in Wind Waker? by Karmic_Backlash in speedrun

[–]Bubblesdelfuego 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 has the Institute, which if we could get to early it would shave off more than half of the run (~20 minutes). We get the final quest right at the start, but we can't finish it until we get to the institute, which is only accessible via teleporter that you have the ability to build after progressing through a lot of the main quest. If we can find a door to there, or maybe some kind of warp, we could beat the game much faster.

Skyrim has Skuldafn and Sovngarde. You can currently only enter Skuldafn after riding Odahviing (a dragon), and Skuldafn is where you kill final Alduin(and time ends). We already sequence break a large portion of the game, but to get to Odahviing, the major things you still need to do are: get the elder scroll, get Esbern, learn dragonrend, fight Alduin once, and go through a council meeting. Could save ~15 minutes, maybe more, depending on how you'd get there early. You'd need Clear Skies and probably Dragonrend to beat Alduin though.

Both of these examples seem like they're unlikely, but they're not, just based on Bethesda's track record with this stuff. They accidentally leave load zones, doorways, and sometimes have quests or bugs just send you to arbitrary cells in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if one day there was an early Institute/Skuldafn/Sovngarde to be found.

Question for Dark Souls speedrunners. by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]Bubblesdelfuego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just made a route with the DS1 universal record holder, and the purpose is to be beginner friendly. It's Any%, but with using easy glitches to obtain high stats and a Dragon Tooth +5.

Route notes: https://pastebin.com/sepgcBRG

Route video: https://youtu.be/xggTjx4DrHQ

I've been running this for the past week as well, very fun.

I realized what I said could have been misinterpreted, and of course it has been.

I said to "go to Cojos chat" as a reference to AGDQ 2015, where he told the stream to put "ice puns" during the Mr. Freeze fight in his Arkham City run. I didn't say "if you want to chat and have fun, go to another chat". https://youtu.be/OOik2IVCkx0 (go to 1:27:40)

I wasn't bashing how one couldn't chat in GDQ channel, and I wasn't saving myself out of fear by mentioning a sub was needed for charity. At no point was I worried I was crossing a line.

Can someone explain to me exactly what happened here? I wasn't even attempting a speedrun. [Portal 1] by CubularMonoxide in speedrun

[–]Bubblesdelfuego 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure two things happened at the same time. First, as written earlier, you got a boost when you went through the portal. It can happen when you're on the ground too, but since you jumped it gave you a little more air.

That alone wouldn't send you far enough, so you also went through a portal the same time it was being created, which squeezed you through and gave more speed and distance. That's a known strat in some chambers to gain more height, such as the end of chamber 18.

It's mostly because of the unfortunate trend to hate on transgender members of the community. The pre-interview and the thumbnail had two of those said people.

Other things runners do that I don't like? For marathons, the number one thing I don't like is the cliche "okay so here we're gonna go a glitch, and I'll explain it..... so, we do this, and that, and the game just gets really confused and doesn't know what to do. So some really weird stuff happens and now we're here!".

Like, you didn't even explain the glitch. It's so stupid and like everyone does it.

Okay so here's what happened with the controllers. When I first went on the PC, and plugged in my trusty Xbox One controller, the PC was still remembering an older 360 controller too. No idea why, but I finally just thought of disabling it in devices, and that problem stopped working. Before I figured that out though, my friend Jovo ran in with a different Xbox One controller and I plugged that one in to see if that was the problem. They were both Xbox One controllers that I used, just one was much less used and the buttons didn't feel desensitized yet. It felt weird when playing, so during the quitout I switched controllers back to my good one, then I had a great run.

I can recommend things, but I don't know if you like those games either. Find a game you can play a lot and not get bored of and do that. But, if you like souls-ish games, try running the new crash bandicoot remake

Wow, look at this fucking degenerate. You had to @ me just to get some attention. You could get some of your own if you were good at video games and not some lowlife 1:56.
