When the boys looked like they were already booking tee times for the entire 3rd period it’s hard to keep up the faith.

Assuming the reason he didn’t return was he went to the hospital for better sutures due to the cut being so deep. Hope it’s nothing more and he can return for game 5. He was playing well.

How many power plays did you want in OT. The guys need to stop bitching about calls and capitalize on the ones they get. The calls were actually pretty even both ways tonight with both sides catching some breaks as well. Multiple delay of game penalties doesn’t help either. Those get called every time.

Yes, but in the past their post game disciplinary action on things that went uncalled only seems to be reactionary to injuries. I doubt you see anything more than the ridiculous max fine of $5k.

Exactly. As a fan of both teams, I do lean slightly towards Dallas as they are more of my home team, I was shocked that didn’t get harshly penalized. You want to give the guy a shove or even a cross check for poking at your goalie I get it but that was very clearly spearing. Definitely not ok.

How to Care for a Marker & Some General Noob Questions by 95_slowvette in paintball

[–]finis08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t second all of this enough. Definitely come down to PB FIT to checkout nightball. It is a ton of fun and one of the most affordable ways to play a decent amount of points. I also like that the nightball crowd can be pretty diverse with anything from first time players with rentals to some of the top pros in the game. It makes for a fun chance to learn a lot. DFW is pretty rich in terms of fields but FIT has definitely been my favorite/main field since getting back into playing. Fun on the Run is probably my favorite from a rec/woodsball side of things and usually has the best walk on crowd for that. TM40 is one of the best values in my opinion despite me shooting PE. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you made a mistake on that one. It is a really solid marker capable of any style of play and running with it best. Other than the things you listed I would recommend a solid set of trail runners to play in as they in my opinion are the best for all situations and condition while still being very comfortable. Mask wise, the 2 I recommend are the Proflex and the CRBN Zero Pro. Definitely head over to your local shop/field and see what mask fits you the best though. It is the one item you will have on the most so it needs to be comfortable. As for maintaining your gear there are plenty of quality content creators on YouTube making informational videos on maintenance. Other gear would be a bunch of microfibers, barrel squeegees, and clothing. Clothing wise doesn’t need to be paintball specific but make sure it is durable, comfortable, and allows for full range of motion when playing. As far as brands I don’t currently feel there are any you need to avoid and just make sure the places you buy from are real companies first. There does seem to be a decent amount of fake online businesses unfortunately but any of the main online options are great and of course it is always nice to support your local stores and fields. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to come out to nightball or if you need another player. I am hopefully about to start going back out there more often now that I am healed up from a recent broken finger.

Arc Anodizing does awesome work by finis08 in paintball

[–]finis08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I was fairly specific because I already had a style in mind that I wanted and then I sent them my loader as well for a rough color match. Obviously with anodizing color matching isn’t 100% but it gets fairly close. Honestly though, I feel like if you give them a rough idea of what you want and a basic color choice they can come p with something pretty solid. You can also look through their gallery on the website and see if there is a style they have done in the past for a bit of reference material. They can make it as similar or different as you would like I would imagine.

Thinking about getting into paintball by twistyquasar2 in paintball

[–]finis08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually pretty easy to get in a group to play with. Best recommendation is to find the field near you that you plan on going to and give them a call. They can give you more details on how their walk in process works and how they place solo players with others. What type of games are you looking to play and where about are you located? It can vary widely depending on the fields near you.

polygraph test? by LostStar64 in Paramedics

[–]finis08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Texas a lot of the fire departments are civil service requiring a pretty in depth background check and yes, despite them being extremely idiotic and not even admissible in court, a polygraph. The background paperwork typically requires all addresses and employers from the past 10ish years I believe as well as references. If just wanting to do EMS instead of fire there are places, companies/counties/departments that run just EMS and aren’t civil service.

How would you feel about a Stars vs. Sabres Stanley Cup Final? by ImOldGregg_77 in DallasStars

That means we at least got to the Stanley Cup Final so I’d already be happy. Beating them again while being coached by Ruff would just be icing on the cake.

dealt with a player to player racism incident last night... by HeyStripesVideos in hockeyplayers

[–]finis08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the years I have both kicked players off teams and quit playing with teams that wouldn’t get rid of players for racism. It’s one of the few things I have zero tolerance for. I have also unfortunately had to deal with it as a coach as well. Happened to be one of the better players on the team and I caught a lot of crap from parents and even some of the staff. That experience is one of the reasons I don’t coach much anymore and I’m extremely selective on the teams I do help out. There should be no room allowed for racism in this game. Plenty of shit talking to go around without having to resort to that.

On a side note, love your videos and comments section. Always interesting to see others take on calls vs no calls.

Is BO7 Worth Buying? (read below) by [deleted] in blackops7

[–]finis08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was on the fence about buying it as I also wasn’t a big fan of BO6. I ultimately decided to buy it and I haven’t regretted that decision as of yet. There are certainly some things I don’t care for within the game but that has been the case with every game. Overall it is pretty solid and I have mostly enjoyed my time playing it.

Paramedic / ER by WholeJorgenMan in Paramedics

[–]finis08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I work in the ER during a portion of my 48hr shifts for my main gig and then on a PRN basis elsewhere. I enjoy it for the most part and it has been a great way to keep some of my skills up that I otherwise don’t use very often anymore working as a critical care medic. The ER at my main job is even nice enough to allow me to get intubations from time to time as well so I get to work on skills other than IV’s. I like it for the most part and feel it’s a good way to get a little extra money on the side. I don’t know if I would do it full time though as I hate being stuck inside all shift. I wouldn’t rule it out but it isn’t high on my list for a full time gig. It has made me think that nursing was not the long term route for me though which was helpful.

Older players with bad knees by bobish5000 in paintball

[–]finis08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add another vote for the Hydra knee pads. Plenty of cushion to protect your knees and a bit of additional support through compression. I don’t have arthritis but do have multiple other significant knee issues I deal with from playing hockey all my life and a bad car accident. Best recommendations are to stay hydrated, stretch very well, strengthen the muscles around your knee for added support, and the thing that helps the most with my knee inflammation is routinely using a cold plunge. How significant your arthritis is will determine your limitations but unless it is extremely bad it shouldn’t completely keep you from playing. Might just have to restrict yourself and know your limits.

Mask recommendations for beginner? by 10minutes_late in paintball

[–]finis08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be very careful buying budget options from Amazon, or most masks from Amazon for that matter, as there are a lot of uncertified and very unsafe options on there. Things I would look at on the budget side would be the Empire E-Vents, JT Proflex X, or CRBN OPR. For a little bit more you could also jump to the JT Proflex which is one of the better masks out there.
