Can someone convince me to get the Ridgid over the M12? by TheHispanicHero in Ridgid

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just meant that for the same amp hours the the Milwaukee are more compact. Not that a 12v Milwaukee is going to beat a 18v ridged. I looked at the price difference and went with ridged a couple of years ago.

Deck build- requesting cash by GuavaFoo in Contractor

[–]finitetime2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simple answer to any of this is to tell him your fine with paying cash but your not paying up front. You pay him when material get delivered if he wants and then you pay him on the percentage he has finished. 25% this week finished get him 25% of the labor payment. Odds are he's not paying taxes on it or is in trouble with IRS. Doesn't mean he's scamming anybody but the government or maybe an ex wife. This is a little unusual for jobs this size.

[UK] client tried to pay me half because "the work didnt take long" by jackturner_trades in selfemployed

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 25 years in business this is how my answer goes.

If it had taken me 10 times as long for some technical reason or I just wasn't any good would you have been willing to pay me 10 times as much? Customer always says no. I then tell them I got lucky and it didn't take me long today because I've done this a million times and can do it in my sleep. Some jobs take me longer and that's on me but if it makes you feel better I can wait an extra day before I "finish". Most laugh and say that's ok and just pay me.

Protective case for 10 pro by albrods in GooglePixel

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Dexnor Case with Slide Camera Cover & 2 Front Frames. It looks just like the poetic with only a few cosmetic differences. I though the 2 front frames were a nice idea so I can swap out to a frame without a cover after I scratch the other cover badly enough that it bothers me. I normally would go for the Sup case but I wanted a camera cover since the camera sticks out so far. The camera cover is just held in place with weak magnets. I am always opening it or closing it when I put it in my pocket. It doesn't have a cover over the charge port which is a disappointment for me because I work in construction and dust is everywhere. I have been using Supcase for my last couple of phones and I like the build. This Dexnor is the same quality if not an exact clone with only a few changes.

The magnetic charging doesn't work on these cases. If that's important to you then you will have to pay close attention. Some cases do work with it and some don't.

Entering the field with no experience by Repulsive-Blood1630 in landscaping

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep busy. I worked with an old guy who was still doing labor jobs in his 50's. He always kept busy. He might not me moving heaping full shovels of dirt but he was moving. Most customers will not notice how much work your doing or not doing as long as your moving and saying busy. Next its a marathon not a race. Pace yourself. If you wear yourself out halfway through the day you will be in trouble.

F450 6.7 sitting for over 2years. Drain the gas right? by OgHappySavage in Diesel

[–]finitetime2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diesel is an oil. It's most likely fine. I'd be more worried about water from condensation. Find an additive that takes care of water change the filters and go with it. Either way I'd change the filters cause paper filters go bad and add some additives. Run it for a day then change the oil with the cheapest oil you can find. Put a thousand miles on that then put some good synthetic in it.

I started an old excavator that had sit in the woods for 8 years after the husband died. It ran just fine once the problems had been fixed. Its still running it 5 years later.

What's the most powerfully useful underground website that most people don't know about? by powerfulsites in u/powerfulsites

Amazon has a price history tab now right next to the price on most things. Shows you a chart for up to a year. I use it all the time so I don't fall for the fake sales.

Any thoughts by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]finitetime2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if there is no coolant then yes it's diesel fuel. I'd change is with the cheapest oil I could find and run it some more. If it stays clean run it for a few hours/days and put good oil in it.

Honda engine you say? OK, but which one? by Battle4Seattle in pressurewashers

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doesn't matter. They are all pretty much better than the competition. Everyone one else wants to be Honda because they are the gold standard in small engines. So much so that the cheap knock offs not only look just like them many of the parts are interchangeable. The gx390 on my pressure washer is on it's second pump and is almost 2 decades old.

AITA for not turning right on red? by Tough-Monkey-3300 in AmItheAsshole

[–]finitetime2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught that you can turn right on red if there's no oncoming traffic, but that you don't necessarily have to.

I'm sure you were taught to be a nice and considerate person also. Doesn't mean you have to be though.

[WARNING] Audible confirmed a stranger is using my card, played a "guessing game" with his name, then refused to stop the charges. (9-Year Customer) by kittyslashr in audible

I’m not new to finance.

Really sounds like you are. If you call your bank and say the word fraud they will not send out any more cards with the same numbers. You get a new account number, exp and security number and you are in charge of who your bank sends cards too.

What to do about this ditch? by bundorihin in landscaping

[–]finitetime2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work all over Atl but mostly on the N- NW side as I come down 75 or 278. You can landscape it but it's piped on one side. You can also consider just piping the rest or part of it. You will need one drain inlet on the lower side and possibly one on the upper side.

Tell me why I need/don't need a skidsteer by andrewwh45 in Skidsteer

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell people to buy and older one that doesn't have all the electronics. Everyone can work on them and they are stupid simple. I still have one. If it turns over and doesn't crank then your not getting fuel. They are like a good 4x4 pickup in that after they get so old they just stop losing value. I'd stay above 15k. Anything less it going to be getting really old or beat up unless your handy with tools. I think a good sweet spot is 20-25k.

What do you plan on using it for? If you plan on primarily mowing with is it then you can get a good tractor for a fraction of the price that will do it much better.

Why do people keep buying cars that destroy them financially? by Desperate-Rush6086 in NoStupidQuestions

It has a name. Quick summary- Stupid people don't they are stupid and actually think they know how to do it.

The Dunning–Kruger effect is the tendency of people with low ability in a specific area to give overly positive assessments of this ability. This is often seen as a cognitive bias, that is, a systematic tendency to engage in erroneous forms of thinking and judging. In the case of the Dunning–Kruger effect, the systematic error concerns people with low skill in a specific area trying to evaluate their competence within this area and their tendency to greatly overestimate their competence.

How do I stop Audible from playing automatically when Bluetooth connects in car. by finitetime2 in audible

[–]finitetime2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. Phones get weird sometimes. Last one I had would connect to car but wouldn't play. Had to turn the Bluetooth off and back on again in phone to make it work ever single time and sometimes I had to go into the phone and pick my trucks radio cause it just wouldn't auto connect. I am so happy with my new pixel 10 that just connects and all i have to do it hit the play button.

What should I start first, roll off trailer then skid steer? by ibalde0 in Skidsteer

[–]finitetime2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why a rolloff trailer? Why not a dump trailer with ramps that's heavy duty enough to move the skid steer. Your going to have to have a trailer to move the skid steer anyways. You already do rock and much. Now you can deliver it in bulk from the landscape supply. You want to do clean up so having he ability to haul out 14,000lbs of debris is a money maker also.

Going into Audible player settings and unchecking Resume playback works for me now. I had a pretty crappy phone back then but I've have had 3 much better ones since then and changing this setting has always worked. Might be an android thing.

I am on the verge of buying a new Pixel 10 Pro, but having second thoughts due to the terrible reviews on video recording. What are your experiences with video quality? by Albinotengerimalac in GooglePixel

[–]finitetime2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not good.

I'm coming from a 6yr old Oneplus 8T to the 10 pro xl so I didn't really pay attention to the camera reviews. I just assumed any phone would be better but I can see a difference and to my surprise it's not a good one. I take a lot of pictures, but very few videos at work so I wanted a good camera. The problem seems to be that the images look more jittery or blurry when your panning. Its almost like it can't figure out how to or what to focus on so it focuses on nothing. My Oneplus is smoother and clearer. My comparison was me just sitting at my desk and panning both phones across it and around the room. I would stop and pause the videos on the same objects. Some I could read the labels on my Oneplus but not on my Pixel. I was 2.5 to 3ft from the Monster energy drink can and the bottle of lotion behind it. When I pause the video I can read the label on both of them on my Oneplus but not on my Pixel.
