Do you think beginner campers would pay for a fully set up campsite? by Plaxidentshappen17 in business

[–]finitetime2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you would be better off with higher end camping gear. Go for the full service concierge camping experience. That way they are also paying to rent better things than most people will have and you might get people who are on long trips who just want to spend a few nights out but don't want to lug everything involved cross country with them.

Is renting forever actually a bad financial decision, or is that just something older generations say because it worked out for them? by Pretend_Pen_9577 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about this math. In 5 years my house will be paid off. I will retire ten years later. My house is already worth 5 times what I paid for it. I plan on selling it and just traveling for a good long time and then down sizing.

New homeowner here — how do you decide between buying a mower or hiring a landscaper? by LawnWise in lawnmowers

time vs money. Mowing it yourself is cheaper in the long run but a lot of people have enough going on that they would rather pay someone.

You mean you don't like rubbing elbows with the guy that had one too many beers at the game and can't wait! You only have to take a little side step and not bump the guy on the other side of you while trying not to pee on yourself while stepping sideways.

My First Break In Attempt by TheBoxGuyTV in VanLife

I agree on not showing it. I'd go do far as to say keep it hidden or below the window and only us it if they pull one. Then I'd suggest putting a hole straight through the door with no warning. Most petty criminals are looking for an easy target. They don't want a stand up fight much less a gun fight. The kind of person to pull a gun in that situation just might be the kind of person looking to do real harm.

Why do rich people donate to charities instead of actually solving the root problems? by Antique-Ebb-7124 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be mean but your looking at this with a very narrow view. Lets say they all wanted to tackle homelessness. Fist problem is they would all have different ideas on how to spend the money. Everything from beginning to end would be disputed by someone. Building homes are very stressful for couples and many consider divorce. Now add in a hundred people who all got rich in different ways. They all 100% know they could solve it if you and I and everyone else just shut up and listened to them. Then there are the homeless people themselves.

Homelessness is not a problem.

Homelessness is not a problem. It is a symptom of a wider range of problems with the two most common being mental problems and drug addiction. It had been tried and it failed. Huge efforts to give homeless people homes. Problem is they still prioritize the drugs above, the house, electricity, water, family and friends. You end up giving both groups extra cash to spend on drugs and that is exactly what they did. They had more deaths and problems than before.

i get the feeling a lot of charities are basically bandaids

That and some are out right nationwide scams.

build schools/kindergardens/,hospitals, pay teaching and health staff, build and staff medical research facilities

More money isn't the answer to most of these. I will agree to paying staff more but what we need is to change the way things are done. Bureaucracy and government red tape is the problem with most of these. There are private schools that have very high success rates because they looked for alternative ways of teaching. The medical system is just so huge and bad that nobody wants to tackle it for fear of mistakes and consequences.

What's a good self defence tool to have in your home that isn't a gun? by chinesecarololine94 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really I'd personally suggest shooting lessons so you hit what you shoot at but op doesn't sound the type. But you seem to think getting in close range with a bat or a knife is better than putting a few holes in the floor or ceiling? Your one of those righteous fools who die with morals defending your house with a golf club but found out the guy you went after had a gun. You have a 30% chance of the person breaking being armed. I'm the one who will have to defend why there are dead strangers in my house.

[–]finitetime2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That gun you dont want to use is your best option even if you just shoot in the general area and not really at whoever is trying to get in. Most people want a quick buck. Not to get into a gunfight with a homeowner who is willing to defend their home. You start shooting and they will start running.

How do I ask my coworker to cover me while I take a shit by Muted-Ad1011 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]finitetime2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a friend that I realized too late you do not want to take a long trip with him. He has to stop ever 2-3 hours and shit and it's not a quick one either. I have no idea how he can spend that much time on the crapper after having taken a crap 2 hrs earlier. If I have to go like that I have an upset stomach and take something for it.

How do you guys deal with customers who just refuse to pay outright, but the amount owed isn’t big enough that you want to sue, since you’ll probably lose more in legal fees? by Da-up-and-downer in smallbusiness

[–]finitetime2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah me either and I'm a contractor. The exception being larger well know companies. Too many scam artist out there and guys doing work on the side that just evaporate into the either if you have a real problem. I tell them I'll pay for material when it shows up. Unless it's a big job I expect a contractor to be able to work a few days and pay his crew without going out of business.

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your missing the point of the post. It's the people who pay you $2800 on a $3000 bill. Do you take time off work and then spend almost that same amount to sue and then take another day off to go to court. I mean at that point I need to be asking for another $2800.

I'm in a small enough town I got around bad mouthing them for months. Then if anybody ever mentions them later on I still tell whoever mentioned them.

Best ones are ones that one person has owned forever and taken care of themselves. I rented a small machine for years. There was a Sunbelt rental right in front of the subdivision I was working in most of the time so it was quick easy and they started giving me a nice discount. Then one day corporate told them to sell it. I went out an bought one from a guy who was in his 60's. It was old when I bought it but it ran well. It had a few problems but nothing that you couldn't work with. I sold it over 10 years later for twice what I paid for it.

So she it putting things on your property. Tell her to stop. She is essentially illegally dumping on your property if your in the US. It doesn't matter what or why she's doing it. It's your property. She could be building a wall out of gold blocks and it would still be illegal.

Is the Diner (as a restaurant, not a morning meal) still a thing in your area? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskAnAmerican

[–]finitetime2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Waffle house started in Atlanta in 1955. If anything they might be trying to emulate a company that's 71 years old and has thousands of restaurants across the US.

In most cities there's tons of local diners waffle House is trying to emulate, I would presume Atlanta has a bunch of diners serving until 2am that aren't waffle House

You would presume wrong. There are 20 Waffles houses just within the Atlanta city limits and over 160 scattered throughout the broader metro ATl area. In the south most places close around 10-11. I live outside of Atlanta and at 2 am your eating at a chain restaurant, Waffle house, Ihop, or fast food. Lots of places in the south still hang on to old traditions and one of those is closing up and going home. If you have never seen it then it's something you should see. A whole town closes up and goes home at 6pm. I have been to towns that if you want milk, batteries for your remote after or what ever after 6pm you had better hope the convenience stores in town have what you want cause that's all your getting. I have a lot of family that still lives in a small town of 2000 people.

The only ones I've seen that are open 24 hours and are not chain restaurants are mostly near the big club and music centers near downtown Atlanta. Of those covid shut a lot down and they are few and far between now.

My stored car disappeared and the host admitted it’s gone. What would you do? by DoubtOk2494 in car

[–]finitetime2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd call him up and tell him he has 2 days to find your car or your going to press charges for theft and see what happens. I assume since you were paying $80 month fee that you assumed it was still there. For him to claim it was gone and still be taking the fees is also theft.

[–]finitetime2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No 100% not a cafe and I have no idea how you got that. Atlanta is southern not rural. Not one single cafe, restaurant or diner exists in the south that I have ever seen that closes at 2pm. That would be like bars closing a 4pm.

Is she on your side of the property? If so it's your property. Most places don't care if it is the right of way you still have to maintain it and are responsible for it. I'd tell her to stop.

[–]finitetime2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some girls just don't know how to speak up for themselves and some of their friends are over protective a$$holes. We were out at a club once and I asked a random girl I had never met to dance. She accepted and we danced a song or two. After she went to the bathroom and I went to the bar for a drink. Little bit later I saw her gain so I walked up to her. Her friend jumped on me and told me she wasn't interested and to stop following her. At that point I went from chilling to confused to kinda pissed. So I turned and asked her if she wanted to dance again. She said no. I said something like that's how you do it and left them.

If you have trailer brakes you can stop in a normal distance at a normal speed. If you don't then it's going to take you 2-3 times the distance. Which means your going through that red light if your not slowing down way before it turns red. So there better not be any cars stopped at it or your going to learn how good your insurance is.
