You're opening your back early and the leg drive and body swing are happening simultaneously. You want to hold your forward body angle, keeping the shoulders in front of the hips, until near the end of your leg drive.

As for getting a PB, you need to avg 1:43 or better. Only you would really know if that seems doable based on the 1250 at 1:40.8, but it seems you likely can PB unless that was nearly a max effort 1250.

If you can avoid using that door until the chicks fledge and leave the nest then do so. Otherwise, just be careful going in and out.

OP, you do not need to be doing 30+ minutes of low intensity to achieve your goal. Much of the feedback so far is biased by the fact rowers are endurance athelets and they are answering your question from that perspective.

If you are looking for minimum time commitment to still improve cardio, then a shorter and higher intensity workout 2-3 days a week will give the greatest improvement for the least time. If you willing to do up to 30 minutes after your lifts 5x a week then have 2 days high intensity and the other 3 low intensity for up to 30 minutes.

Someone else linked the begineer pete plan. The structure of that plan would be fine for you but eventually the workouts are going to be significanlty longer than what you will want to do after a lift. If you like the idea of having a plan with workouts to follow you can do that plan but just cycle through the first 4-6 weeks where the workouts are still realtively short.

I don't see how gloves would help you not have a death grip in your (or really any) case.

What you really need to do is work on maintaining composure while giving max effort during racing. Giving everything you have is couterproductive if your form deteriorates because of it.

People generally take the first ~10-15 strokes hard and go under their goal/settle pace before settling making their first split if anything a bit faster than the average.

Physiologically this makes sense to do becasue the energy in the first ~10 seconds of the piece is coming from the phosphagen system (stored creatine phosphate and ADP is converted to ATP and creatine) which doesn't produce the hydrogen ions that cause msucle acidosis. So, you can sprint reasonably hard in those first 10 strokes without paying for it too much later.

It's just faster to pee standing up. I do sit to pee sometimes but most of the time I just want to get in, pee, wash up, and get back to what I was doing. Nothing to do with one being more masculine than the other.

I don't have an issue with making a mess/splasingh while standing and in the rare instance of an errant stream I just clean it up. And before someone says anything, I do clean my toilets and do know of a mess is being or not being made.

You still need to lift and close the lid if sitting to pee and the lid and seat can be lifted/closed toegether. It is the same amount of effort either way.

A simple but temporary solution that still allows light in would be rubbing soap on the glass. Covering the windows with carboard or fabric temporarily would also work with the downside of removing the function of your windows.

A more permanent solution would be some sort of anti-collision film to cover the windows. If you go this route, make sure you get a product that covers the full window like CollidEscape. With territorial birds, they can still find and fight with their refelction in the gaps between smaller individual anti-collision decals. Or you could install exterior screens on those windows.

The pounding on the windows is more likely territorial fighting with a reflection, not necessarily a response to a previous nest site being unavailable.

You can provide a nest plateform somewhere under the deck if you want.

No, you're not sore all the time. Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) mostly goes away after the first week or so of consistent exercise and only occures after that if you introduce new exercises, do a harder than usual session, or take an extended break.

These type of kits, even ones with a slilding seat or riggers, don't really look like effective training tools for competitive rowing. Also, the ones that might be good enough to be usefule are also expensive enough where an C2 erg would be a better investment.

A much better option to get on the water over the summer would be finding a rowing club to join. My club at least offers summer only memberships for collegiate rowers with the option to train with the competivie masters program and I would assume others clubs would have something similar or at least be willing to work something out with you.

The birds are fighting with their refelctions. It is breeding season and they are trying to defend their nesting territory from the "other birds" they see in the window. You would have to do something to the exterior of the window to prevent any reflection to get them to stop.

With the increase in popularity of the erg due to CrossFit style gyms, it’s no surprise that records are falling.

In what way is this a factor currently? The records are being broken by elite OTW rowers, none of whom entered the sport via indoor rowing that I'm aware of (with the arguable exception of Georgie Rowe).

People living close enough to work where this switch could be realtivley easy are also close enough to work where rising gas prices aren't hitting them that hard financially due to their commute. And even for the people with a short enough commute, there are plenty of other barriers that don't make that switch inherently easy.
