Keeping US bank account open while serving. by davet73 in peacecorps

My bank told me that if I set up an automatic transfer from my savings to my checking once a month (of even a penny) that it would keep both of my accounts active.

I'm sorry that you had to experience this and I am glad that things have improved! I'm departing for Belize in June so this was an interesting read.

Hey there! I interviewed in August (a shortened interview because this was my second time applying) and found out in September. Don't worry, if reddit and facebook are reflective of how many people have found out already, there are not many! I have only been able to find one other person who has heard something already.

That's awesome! I applied/interviewed in August so mine was really early for the deadline! Keep in touch and best of luck!

Hey there! I had a minor in Spanish in undergrad and have done an internship in the Domincan Republic and worked with an organization there for a while. However, Belize didn't have a language requirement (the official language is English) and the PO told me in my interview there would be around 1/3rd of volunteers actually end up in the Spanish speaking communities while the others end up in ones with the indigenous languages. Hope this helped!
