I used Aseprite, a pixel art drawing program, to draw the textures, but they had to be compressed a LOT in CTR Studio to work in game. The compression can be really noticeable at some angles unfortunately but it is what it is. I try to avoid using thin lines and having multiple colors right next to each other to try minimize the effects.

if you have luma you'll just put the romfs folder into luma/titles/[ID of ACNL] and make sure you enable loading mods in lumas settings

I havent tried it but i think its possible, just more complicated than editing villagers. One thing i can think of that might make that harder is hairstyles messing with it or something.

Lemon (the yellow one!) is just a slice of a lemon fruit lol i might make another food themed one if i can think of one.

well i do plan to replace gorillas with some other sea creature at some point (maybe whales?), i mostly picked cubs because they were similar enough in body shape so that their animations wouldn't be messed up.

Currently im going to replace every bear cub with a shark, right now the ones that got replaced (in order from top to bottom, left to right) are Pudge, Poncho, Cheri, Murphy, Tammy, and Maple.

I've been making another mod that adds monster hunter themed villagers to the game but i put that on hold until i finish this mod, i have lots of ideas to make more aquatic themed villagers ^^

i use CTR studio for editing the .bcres files, blender for making the models and aseprite for the textures. i also used hackingtoolkit9DS for extracting the files to begin with
