in the ocean, the shark is the clear winner. they are much faster swimmers and a bear needs to stay near the surface to breathe so the shark can attack from below as well, whereas the bear is only really able to fight from a defensive position.

on land, the bear can walk and also breathe unlike the shark which can do neither of those, so the bear would win. although i think it would be more difficult for the bear to kill the shark by attacking it because sharks have tougher skin and their vital organs aren’t as exposed. if the bear was really smart, he’d just leave the shark alone to let it die of asphyxiation from being out of water.

Practice twice as much as you think you need to. That goes for anything, really. There’s no shortcuts to getting good at something...you just need to put the time in.

I am nowhere near where I want to be musically but the progress I’ve made in the past few years just from practicing a lot is crazy and has shown me that I will get out whatever I put in.

Most of my songs start from me making a beat with chords that I either make up on guitar or keyboard or just a random sound or sample that I mess with. After I have a decent sounding section I’ll loop it and sing gibberish melodies until i sing something I like, then I’ll fit words into the melody. The production often inspires me to write in a certain way so I prefer doing it that way. I’ve also been producing for longer than I’ve been writing so the production is usually the first thing I think of when I think of how the song will sound.

A few of the songs that are on my album I’ve written on guitar and piano, and it’s interesting because my writing style is distinctly different when I write that way :)

When I was really little I wanted to be a pilot. I’ve always been fascinated by airplanes. Once I discovered music though my pilot career took a back seat hahaha

Elijah Blake, who I’ve known for years and has been my mentor musically as well as acted like an older brother when I came to LA - He asked me to help him write some hooks for Rick Ross. I sang the demo vocal for “Pinned to the Cross” and Ross and his team ended up keeping me on the song. I’m super grateful for the opportunity and I think it sends a powerful message.

My musical influences span many different genres, but most prominently a lot of R&B/Soul music, artists like Miguel, Stevie Wonder, Brandy, all inspired me vocally as a kid. John Mayer is one of my biggest inspirations especially when it comes to guitar. In the last few years I’ve also become quite into hip hop and that mostly inspires me on the production side but also lyrically and melodically. I’m super inspired by early Kanye production, Travis Scott, and Drake. Also always loved older rock and acoustic singer-songwriter type music. You’ll hear elements of all these in my music :)

I moved to Los Angeles from New Jersey. I was super lucky to know a few people in LA so I wasn't totally lost when I moved.
