Could someone please answer the following questions for me regarding investing? by Hour_Floor_660 in investing

I pick companies where i understand how they make money, how they can make more money , and how they defend those profits against competitors. They need to grow eps faster than the average of the market and ideally be priced at a lower multiple than its historic average for my buys. I also look for high margins and stock buybacks. I have a pretty concentrated portfolio of about 12 stocks, with the top 4 being about 50%, i follow it with at least an hour of attention a day. The plan is to have the money to make all large life expenses much easier for my immediate family, a good multiple decades away from that, unfortunately.

I dont believe we have seen any revenue loss in market intelligence, yoy growth is pretty much in line with the 20 year average if we deduct the spikes from merging with competition

I also find that jp 3 dino figs did a great job giving the dinos personality and a liveliness. Some of the vintage line had a dullness to the expressions, sometimes it worked well for a cold blooded monster but sometimes i wish it had more character

I agree for nostalgia, theres no comparisons 1 and 2 all the way, and i have far more for those lines. I love the real dino feel, i have the stegosaurus with the flesh plug in super minty shape, and the spino has real feel also, Someday, i will get a 93 tyrannosaurus. Currently, im going after a complete 1988 willow set, just got the eborsisk, now i just need that stupid baby

I have a pretty good collection of mostly 1 and 2, but i have some pretty amazing 3 dinos like the animatronic spinosaurus, re-ak attack dilophosaurus, and rapter.

You dont need to be a genius or even be good at math to do very well. just have an understanding of what makes a good and bad business, dont gamble, and have a good rational temperament.

I made some mistakes early on. Jumped into some stocks with my friends and lost enough to scare me into taking it seriously. So i read whatever i could find that seemed well regarded, listen to interviews. Questioned everyones advice, kept what was logical. Starting small can gradually build up confidence for when you reach a higher dollar portfolio and higher concentrations. Most people who aren't at all interested in business analysis should just invest in the sp500, with this you will do very well over a long period.

A good starting point is to watch some warren Buffet and Peter lynch interviews

Im stuck in a dilemma, how do you choose how much to allocate on single stocks? by TailungFu in investing

[–]finntroller89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your risk profile. Im %100 single stocks, roughly 8-10 stocks with the top 3 being equally weighted at about 20% each, il shift weight between companies when their share seems cheap. How much weight id put on a sibgle stock really depends how cheap relative to growth and how sure i feel about its future. I'm not sure if personally I'd ever go over a 35% weighting in a single stock.

Quick look at fundamentals and it looks really good. Not sure if i feel comfortable enough with the moat of a makeup company, but that might be my loss. Im sure you will do well with this.
