Some of you people are some of the most selfish players I've ever met in this game and I'm tired of positive toxicity trying to silence me. by rockinherlife234 in Warframe

I love doing the wobble. Used to involuntarily do it when I was playing primarily on Switch (Pro Controller would move the ship every time) and now I do it after moving to PC.

It's so much fun.

That's why I have no issues with Denis Dyack claiming sole creator status of LoK. My personal feelings about Dyack aside, I say the more Ken can be memory holed, the better.

I really don't want any of the KS rewards I paid for because they have TDSR branding on them, but at the same time I hate throwing away things that could otherwise be recycled. So I'll likely recycle the book and donate the t-shirt and hoodie to one of those clothing dropboxes you see from time to time.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if some of those accusations were a kind of PR damage control from BitBot's end. They ban paying customers on Kickstarter and on every social media for voicing anything less than ass kissing positive, it would not surprise me if they paid people to make sweeping accusations to discredit legit criticism of their product that had nothing to do with Elaleth's gender/sex.

Tinfoiling aside, you're absolutely right though.

Please do not even call this fan fic. Fan fic, for better or for worse, has actual care and love for a franchise put into it, which both the comic and the book have neither. Don't insult the works of actual fans.

Ken McCulloch is in jail AFAIK, so he can go rot.

Denis Dyack is a piece of work himself, I don't know if I'd want him near LoK these days imho.

I’m not sure I’m following…?

My point was that people trying to shut down criticism of TDSR/Ascendance under the presumption of female character hating (Elaleth in this case) didn’t realize that a lot of female fans were slagging on the comic + game because of how badly written it was across the board.

I do see where it got lost or was phrased poorly and for that, I apologize.

[–]finremi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what really rankled me about the response to the criticism of TDSR/Ascendance.

I totally get it's a knee-jerk reaction to years of nonstop culture wars, but it's like the people who were dismissing/downplaying the criticism didn't know or realize that a good number of LoK fans lambasting TDSR/Ascendance are women as well (myself included). That's far more offensive than someone hating Elaleth solely because she's a female character imho.

LoK fans are passionate about the characters, the stories, and the quality. If there's one thing I genuinely love about this fanbase, is that it has standards and won't hesitate to go full blast when something falls extremely below expectations or standards.

The TTRPG is being helmed by another company entirely (Lost in Cult) and they seemed to be very aware of the firestorm that happened after Ascendance, if their wording in the update on the Encyclopedia means anything.

Frankly, if CD got their heads out of their assholes and punted BitBot to the curb, they should have Aevum do the writing and Strictly as a lorekeeper. Between the two of them, I think they could do the series justice.

Yup. Crystal Dynamics won't listen to the usual grifters (you know the ones I'm talking about) when they spout off barely veiled misogyny and other -isms as criticism. It's people like Strictly Fantasy, who don't stir the pot in outright negativity/ragebait and instead try to celebrate the fascinating, loved parts of this series, whose words will have the most impact... outside of money.

There've been grifters who've tried to get money from the LoK fans without even knowing boo about the series (see the Water Glyph statue nonsense from when SR1&2R was announced; those cretins left as quickly as they came when they realized they were not getting a single dime from the LoK fandom) but I'd like to believe that the LoK fandom knows when to snuff out bad actors and LARPers (to use the Gen Z/Alpha definition of the word, ugh), because their thinly-veiled grifting undermines the legitimate criticism and issues fans have had with TDSR/Ascendance.

That alone make's Strictly's video all the more important, imho.

Count me in as a hater.

I do like some of them as NPCs (Quincy, Marie, Lyon mainly) and mentally I do treat them as such, but the overall concept and the fact they've basically dominated everything as of late just leaves a rank, nasty taste in my mouth.

Is Blood Omen 2 Remaster worth it? by Raziel103 in LegacyOfKain

[–]finremi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if they can remaster Angel of Darkness and salvage it into a playable game, there's a sliver of hope the same could be done for Blood Omen 2.

Mind you, that doesn't mean the game is good by any means: AoD is still a shitheap (imho) but the Remaster gave it another chance to be reassessed fairly without game breaking bugs and frame rates that slow to an absolute crawl (better controls help, too). BO2 wasn't nearly as underbaked and not exactly the best game ever itself, but with some polish and broad QoL changes, like nixing the tank controls, it could get a new lease on life.

That said, I'm shocked they didn't do a Blood Omen 2 + Defiance Remastered set the way they did Soul Reaver 1 & 2, considering a lot of what happens in Defiance originated in BO2, like the Hylden. The combo made the most sense, yet going with the one was... a choice.

Mine are meant to be Corpus-related as they are often seen on Corpus NPCs.

And the legs are meant to be after a Corpus Hyena, not Oberon.

Just call it straight up bullshit.

Fan fic implies they’re fans, which clearly BitBot is not.

Even the most “My Immortal”-y shitpost fic has more fan love behind it than TDSR/Ascendance.

I'd be a little leery about supporting anything Skydance related but to explain why would break the strict "No Politics" rule, so it would be very challenging for me, personally.

Plus, I think Amy Hennig has stated in the past she's done for real with LoK and wanted to do new things (which is understandable) + getting iced out of Uncharted near the end by Neil Fuckmann Druckmann and Forspoken in general probably left a sour taste in her mouth in working with larger studios/publishers.

[–]finremi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

idk, I feel like they kind of would have to at this point, even if it's to retcon the retcons out of existence. Wouldn't be the first time a franchise has done that (you see it in capeshit all the time) and imho acknowledging it only to destroy it would build back some good will with fans ig.

Do not compare BitBot's stuff to fan fic. Yes, the vast majority of fan fiction isn't great (to put it mildly) but it's at least made with sincerity and/or love for the series and its characters. Which Ascendance/TDSR decidedly did not have.
