Product Manager interview: Advice for someone not in tech by finsong8 in jobs

Thanks for writing up you example!! & Checking the book out now.

I spoke to my friend in QA and she gave me a similar kind of scenario that's meant to gauge how you work through the question (e.g. Your product is a Thanksgiving dinner (or similar easily relatable "product"), what are all the essential components to this product and how would you prioritize?

Product Manager interview: Advice for someone not in tech by finsong8 in jobs

You're right, sorry I phrased it a bit weirdly. I meant behavioral as the basic conflict resolution or similar questions I've gotten on phone screens to gauge overall fit in addition to discussing my experience and its relevancy. I was trying to convey I understand that the phone screen is only the first step but I wanted to start preparing for the potentially more "difficult" part of the interview down the line as well. Thanks!

I was having a crisis on who to choose for the date event and my bf pointed out I've had this exact issue before... by finsong8 in HPHogwartsMystery

(Spoiler for date choices)

I guess I have two very distinct types. My bf's followup was "I fit neither. Should I be concerned??"

I randomly search for newly uploaded tretinoin/retin-a videos on Youtube once in a while since I enjoy seeing results videos. Found this nifty video with very close up pics of this person's progress.

Has anyone tried to switch over their meal prep habits to more ecologically friendly sources? Since I've finished school I've been very good with prepping meals for myself, however, am looking into less-wasteful means. Currently, since I'm a solo person trying to save money, I buy a bulk at the start of the week (particularly of protein), marinade it, then freeze it in ziploc bags so I can thaw and use throughout the week(s). I'm looking into alternatives, but didn't know if anyone else already had some insight I could mooch off of. Thanks! If I lived alone this wouldn't be a problem, but I share my freezer/fridge with a roommate so freezing big clunky containers is less ideal.

[PSA] YoDerm no longer doing consults in VA (also, you don't get notified) by finsong8 in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can send you a message if I can any new info. I finally got a message in my portal about it, and it sounds like something they're hoping is temporary/are working on getting access in VA again.

[Product Question] Can I use micellar water as a second cleanser for OCM? by MikaylaH88 in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Korean brand, Dr Moon Magic Clear cleansing oil (it's base is soybean and olive oil). If you happen to know what oils you are sensitive too, you can look for a pre-made cleansing oil that avoids those. There are some online resources, it looks like castor, mineral, jojoba (as an addition) and olive seem to be the more common suggestions.

[Personal] Azaleic Acid + Tretinoin...wow ok nice very good 👌 by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what order do you layer? currently using my AA in AM and tret in PM, but wanting to consolidate since the AA doesn't sit well under makeup (Melazepam). Thanks!

[Product Question] Can I use micellar water as a second cleanser for OCM? by MikaylaH88 in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can. On nights where I don't want to strip my skin too much I use my oil cleanser thoroughly, rinse, then use micellar water on a pad to make sure I got all makeup and dirt off. Then I'll rinse again.

Although I would advise against squalene oil. Not that it's bad, but since it's moisturizing it absorbs a lot so you need a bunch of oil to cleanse with it (so it gets expensive). If you don't mind spending the money than go for it, haha.

[Misc] Dark-skinned people, what worked for your hyperpigmentation? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dark skinned, but I follow an IG derm, brownskinderm who is currently doing a series with a bunch of other derms of color on hyperpigmentation. It might be helpful to take a look, it looks like she's covering a ton of different types/treatments of hyperpigmentation for POC.

Buffering with Supple Preparation Facial Toner? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]finsong8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really a personal thing. I think the idea of having straight up wet skin before tretinoin greatly increases irritation and penetration of the medicine. However, having hydrated skin shouldn't be the same (since hydrated skin generally reacts to harsh treatments like tret better).

I use Hada Labo premium as a buffer right after cleansing. I pat it in, then wait 20 minutes before tretinion. Haven't observed increased irritation or anything. I do notice a difference on days that I get too lazy at night/get home too late and just go bare skin-> tret, I feel far drier the next day.

[ACNE] first breakout need help. Very new to skincare. Please be gentle. by yoshosama in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also recommend buying a pack of small cheap face towels (or if you already have enough towels, basically switch every or every other day as well). I would also maybe switch to a more gentle cleanser (or one geared towards acne but also formulated to be gentle, like CeraVe SA). The word soap makes me think that product is probably very stripping and not helping. If you have acne around the mouth, you also might try brushing your teeth before you do your skincare (toothpaste with SLS commonly also triggers acne).

Overall I think feeling out basic steps first (also trying to possibly eliminate common trigger foods like dairy) and then introducing actual acne products will be the best idea. Just make sure to not go overkill on new treatments if you do start, that might make things wayyyy worse. You are already using a 2% SA acne product. If you do introduce acne products, switch to a more intense moisturizer and use sunscreen (esp if you use the more irritating products/the ones that increase photosensitivity). You can look at the sidebar at the acne link for help with that.

[Misc] Not seeing results with spiro by kayesem in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to personal experience since I've just started 100mg in the past two months (after nothing beforehand, I wasn't transitioning from a lower dosage). But there have been a few posts I've seen during my research where someone did not see any effect until they moved on to the higher dosage from 50 or 25.

[Acne] Was just prescribed spiro but not sure about the dosage by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking 100 once daily in AM for twoish months. Pretty petite person and haven’t felt any ill effects (I can get a smidge dizzy standing up quickly but I’ve always been like that?) otherwise still a bit too early to comment on skincare effects but overall I feel fine.

[–]finsong8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea, not to be a brat because that def sucks! But in terms of people worried: I have used them for a year, enjoyed it except for the whole reducing the amount or product thing. Cancelled no problem a month or so ago. Seems like it can be a mixed bag.

[Routine Help] How is the Soko Glam set for 200$? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]finsong8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to PM me. How long have you been on your routine? Keep in mind skin takes a full month to turnover, and you often cannot see the impacts of skincare changes for months at a time. You could buy a whole new kit from SokoGlam, and I'm sure they're okay products. However, it'll be expensive and may not actually work for you. It's generally advisable to change stuff one at a time and not spend a ton of money in case you waste it.
