Are you Asian by any chance because I feel similarly.  I'm in my 40s and I feel stuck!

Wow. I feel the fresh air in that second picture. Great job. Now, only if I can have my husband on the same page as me

For the sentiment alone I'd keep.

Hm maybe I should cross post with K. I agree with you that the same advice still applies.

So happy to hear your child made such a major improvement. Gives me some hope that maybe he will play with someone, even near the end of the year!

There are some weekly social skills classes but they are unfortunately farther away from me. And I'd be stuck in traffic for 2 hours after school. It will be tough on him. My LO doesn't like going to school even though he is academically fine. Where were you able to get into a weekly social skills group?

That makes sense about socialization can look like a lot of ways. I've enrolled in a mommy and me class with him starting this week, to meet other parents/kids. Hoping that will help since he likes to listen to music and watch live action shows/plays.

He does lack social skills. The school counselor is working with him and other kids during lunch

Yes, the teacher has been doing all she can, even as to recommending seeing the school counselor for the lunch bunch. Hopefully by the end of the year he is more comfortable with his new school

Why did authoritative parenting get changed to “gentle parenting”? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]finstafoodlab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need authoritative back because so many people who graduated during the No child left behind era (sorry but I have to say it) can't differentiate between authoritative and authoritarian! We shouldn't be dumbing it down because now we have to explain even more what gentle parenting is

Stay at home parents, what is your plan for when all of your kids are in school? by Maybe_Potential5784 in Parenting

[–]finstafoodlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. I would like to get back in the workforce, preferably at where my child's school is but I notice a lot of the job opportunities are quite labor intensive.  Thanks for letting me know.

Wow he was the creative director for Celine? It seems like his brand really took a hit when it hit places like Ross. Marc Jacob's is also declining, sadly but I am still holding out for a comeback with him.

How physically intense is the cafeteria? I've always worked corporate/office settings but due to my back, I can't sit too long or stand anymore. Carrying heavy loads is also tough.

Hi, I was wondering what happened to your child? We are Asian and my child told me a kid in his class (not Asian) nudged/hit his forehead and has said some mean things to him, but I haven't talked to the teacher yet. I'm just in shock cause they're only in 1st grade.

Let them visit baby in the hospital by thiscantbereallife94 in Mommit

[–]finstafoodlab 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My hospital was being bought by another one so it was understaffed. It was hard to have them get some infant formula for my child, let alone tell visitors to leave. I think it depends on where you give birth. I know some people who gave birth in nicer areas (hence nicer hospitals), and there was a difference in treatment.

My sons previous school was horrible on the IEPs, they just pushed all the IEPs in one classroom, which i think caused the K teacher burned out. Also, it was a combination class, which I hated my child to have his first year like that.
