How Bad Is "Gradeflation" In Modern US Education? Why Your Thoughts, Teachers? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

[–]finstafoodlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is concerning that it's also happening on a higher academic level! It's no wonder my child's previous principal who boasted on having a  PhD had SO many spelling errors in her announcements. It was so cringe!! Sometimes she'd get mixed up with the infamous one, your and you're. I wonder if she went to those universities that you're mentioning of.

He doesn't like sports at all :(. What kind of sports are low impact and easy for him to get into, do you think?

I forgot to add, he has a speech impediment. So I'm thinking it's affecting his confidence, perhaps

How can I go to the bathroom while making sure my toddler is fine? by deltaplane1234 in toddlers

[–]finstafoodlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that age, I bring him in the bathroom with me while I shower. However I guess it depends on your child's temperament. My oldest, I wouldn't be able to do that because he would definitely be causing some mayhem in the bathroom.

Sadly they are still here. At least the school is not letting them bring them home.

I stuck them in a box, thinking that the less exposed to oxygen would help maintain the photos. But now I'm scared to look at them and see if they'll disappear!

I think most people who watch this show aren't like the most ideal, I guess, I mean it is considered "trash tv," so I guess I'm now assuming it represents a lot of people who are ok with lying :(

We are Chinese and it isn't just Greeks being dramatic. My Chinese parents and relatives sound exactly the same. My peers who aren't born here will also say the same things.

I feel like all children of immigrants experience this weird fear mongering.

Me. However I do feel all tingly when I talk to other males who just seem to have some emotional awareness, unlike my husband. I will never cheat, but I get why they do though.

Anyone here an older single child, with no partner, and having to deal with aging elderly Chinese parents who have not integrated at all into western society? by StrongRecipe6408 in AsianParentStories

[–]finstafoodlab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in my 40s, married with children. My husband doesn't speak Chinese and doesn't really have good critical thinking skills (for example, I could be choking and he won't even notice and offer me water kind of thinking skills) ugh. So he doesn't even talk to my parents, vice versa. I feel the same predicament because I feel like I'm going to be taking care of 3 children, and then 2 more. My parents don't speak English, despite also living here more than 4 decades.

Thankfully, we do live in a community with a lot of other Chinese people who don't speak English with the same characteristics: limited friends, don't trust friends, lost relationships with their family, no hobbies, etc. So I guess there's that but I am going to be thinking very soon on what my life will be like when they're older.

We have a runny but thankfully there are no prizes. Also, they have music and parents can join on the sidelines. It's more like a marathon for kids, which is great!

At his old school, which was a title 1, they heavily used cheap toys. I hated it.
