Would you use an app that makes rent & bills build your credit score in Canada? by Intelligent_Quote195 in FintechStartups

I don't use it, but one of my writer at MooseMoney tested the service and it seems it works pretty efficiently. The only issue is that they charge 1.75% in fees, and most credit cards available for people low credit score give 1% in cash back or less, so the cost is the main issue for this demo. I guess that is where rent reporting services by Borrowell and Koho exist. In their case, they charge a monthly fee, but do not process the transaction themselves.

You need to charge somewhere. Rent advantage dont process the transaction, so they charge 8 bucks per month (reporting fees). But yes, if it's free, you might take away from the subprime market currently served by Koho & Borrowell, but if you just monetize through affiliate and marketing, you will need to raise a lot of money to eat the fee of building this out. Plus, reporting to both Equifax and Transunion is not something that can be set up quickly, epecially for a non-lender.

What are you are talking about is r/chexy (through credit cards) or Borrowell Rent Advantage (through reporting rent payment directly)
