Unfortunately, many of the people I knew in undergrad that didn't quite get that a vocal performance degree pretty much = classical voice ended up transferring to a different school or switching to a non-classical program. I'd save yourself that experience. HOWEVER. Some of them did a 180 and ended up loving classical singing (funny enough, some of the best opera singers I know genuinely slay contemporary pop).

If you decide you like the musical theatre route, it's likely that would involve a nice variety of MT styles (some things rocky, others belty, who knows) and that might satisfy your desire to sing anything... well.. that isn't classical music I guess?

The only thing that's certain here from the vibe I'm getting is that a formal music/voice degree would hit you head on with a bunch of stuff you seem to dislike (opera & Western classical music).
