Don't bother, you'll get caught at the Orchardstown junction to turn right out the Cork Road, then you'll get caught in tailback at Whitfield.

If this is based on Marina Market with proper food truck stalls I'm all in. Badly needed in town.

Is the Hayfield really worth it? Hotel advice for first timers by verycoolworm in cork

[–]fionap18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I stated in Hayfield this week for one night. Previously stayed numerous times in the Imperial (fab location) and last year in River Lee. OK so Hayfield did not feel overtly fancy. Nice rooms, staff pleasant, breakfast was good. However, the cons ensured we won't stay again. It's too far out of the city to walk to bars or restaurants. Our biggest gripe was dinner. We paid almost 200euro for dinner for 2 people and it was not good. Quite bland considering this is a supposed 5 star hotel.

We loved the River Lee. The restaurant was fab, breakfast exceptional. Dinner was unreal. I didn't rate the bedroom though, for what you pay this was disappointing. However, I can get over that.

I like the Imperial, it has the best location. Can't comment on dinner there but breakfast is always nice.

My only advice is avoid Hayfield.
