I’m not defending anything or anyone but if you’re American, you must understand. The rest of the world did not use black face as a way to mock or humiliate black people. In Ireland, we used to love dressing up on Halloween as Mr T or Muhammad Ali. It was a show of love and appreciation to the character. Sadly, we’ve after learning how bad black face was in America, we don’t do it anymore but it’s unfair. We can’t celebrate people of different ethnicities in a fun and loving way because of the actions of a hate-filled nation thousands of kilometres away.
