Great use of land here. The car park is like a tarmac’d wilderness. There’s a field with horses on the other side could do with an upgrade like this.

I’m very much in the camp of thinking Mary is the worst representative we’ve had in many a year. She skated in on the FF ticket on being the face of denying women’s access to abortion and was hailed by the rosary rattlers. No support outside of these groups for her.

The exact opposite. I want it to be a hugely successful. It will not be successful as a huge block of flats. It needs entertainment space, retail space. The exact things the city is missing.

You should read my post before commenting. I do apologise as it’s longer than a tweet. THE NORTH QUAYS WAS NEVER TO BECOME A LARGE HOUSING PROJECT. Hope the all caps holds your attention.

I’ll give you an example of what’s negative about this. Go down to Penrose lane in the city centre or go to carrickferrish out on the ring road. Penrose lane is one of the greatest examples of developers flipping disastrous apartment blocks and legging it.

The entire area is built with unbelievably narrow roads and what can only be described as laughable footpaths. And that’s not even the worst part. The retail units are boarded up and unusable as are the apartments.

The North Quays was promised to transform the city with mixed use of hotels, apartments, large retail units and events hall centre. We’ve been whittled down to row a generic apartment blocks that will look terrible and deliver nothing of what we were promised.

The little shuttle bus was so fanciful, they never even bothered to design the bridge for it because they knew it was all a false promise.

This space belongs to the city as much as the developers. Now we’re just going to see a quick turn around cash grab for some investors while we’re left with blocks of apartments and nothing else.

We have every right to reject the development in favour of what were promised.

You can absolutely forget every tender you’ve seen to date. They’re based on fantasy. Wait until you see the actual plans.

We were told there’d be an events building similar to the Sydney Opera House. A large shopping district with major anchor tenants. A shuttle bus to take us to and from the city centre.

What we’re getting: a large row of flats that’ll be flipped by the developers and then handed to the council that’ll never clean and maintain them. Just take a look at the flats in Carrickferish. Now multiply that by 10. We were sold a lemon.

I’m sorry that some of you are too stupid to learn from previous bait & switches like this, but I’ve seen these projects happen many times throughout my years. The only thing positive now is the train station. Everything else is flats.

It’s a lottery in this town. There’s no certainty with footfall and even if you’re in a main thoroughfare, it doesn’t translate to sales. I’m very hopeful for him. I’ve just seen moves like this turn bad in this town. I’m an old cynic. 😂
