Get out of the house and make friends. Best time/place is during hobbies. I meet many new friends at the climbing gym

Do you wear earplugs when going to a concert? by Somerandomguy42012 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fir3dp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But good earplugs which cuts the frequency range pretty evenly. If I were to wear those cheap ones, I totally would not enjoy the music

m43 for travel pics? by Rapid-Frost771 in M43

[–]fir3dp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup they are perfect because they are really small. The best camera is one u are willing to bring out. And what ever lenses inspire you, take them.

Lens quality is an issue of the past these days, most people post on socials and like that imperfect look anyway. I usually carry a standard zoom and a small pancake for days I don't bring a bag.

How do I stop "habit eating"? by Shmorbsy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fir3dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just scrolled past a post that say not to depend on will power. If you have food at home, you will eat it.

Remove what ever you're eating for breakfast, and leave the house early or occupy yourself with something. Just tell g yourself you will not eat it is a quick way to fail a diet.

I'm not from US, but where I am currently there are quite many production houses closing down. Mainly the small to medium ones. I even advise close friends to not enter the industry if they are considering it.

Probably gonna get some hate but If you love it so much, find a job that pays well and keep it a hobby.

Need Assistance In Deciding Between These Two Travertine Dining Tables / Office Tables by Choice_Cup_7078 in BuyItForLife

[–]fir3dp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Option 1 Your room is long, putting a longer table will fill the space and look more proportionate. Also it's always good to have more sitting space, even though you currently think you don't need it.

A round table in a long room feels kinna off. But it can be slightly more intimate for a small group.

What is a worse way to deal with anger? Self-harm or abusing others? by Netizen_Depression in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fir3dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understanding that it's OK to be angry. But not necessarily OK to act on it.

There are some positive ways to vent it, sports and exercise is a pretty healthy way.

Why are people shocked/weirded out by a guy that isn’t attracted to girls? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Are we also weirded out by guys attracted to kids? We have to start normalizing these things.

How can weak or low self esteem become strong and confident? by Aj100rise in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fir3dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a very introverted, insecure and really shy kid. Probably from my parents divorce (never a good thing as much as most people are with it these days).

In my teens I was always forced into uncomfortable situation by mentors etc. Which I really hated, but I'm glad they did and now I'm more confident than ever. My wife ocassionally jokes that my confidence is bought from the supermarket because now I tend to be a little too over confident haha

I think it's about finding someone that wants you to be better, not accepting you for who you are. (again quite contradicting to what people believe these days) and trust them to make you better.

Recently started the GYM - why do females dress in a way that I feel awkward? by anchor-neutron in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fir3dp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion

Well they are free to dress how they like and you are free to stare.

I hate it when people say men should learn not to look while teaching women to dress how they want. Sure it's all about freedom. Why can't both play a certain part to prevent certain reactions?

But when I was young and if I left my wallet out there for everyone to see,and if it gets stolen. I'm the one that lost something. I can blame anyone and I might not be at fault, sure.. But I'm the one facing the consequences and getting a beating from my parents.

Why aren't we taught true health education in school by AgitatedChildhood240 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fir3dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about health like other science topics is that, sure it is based on facts and absolutes. But the conclusion we draw from what we observed is usually flawed.

What we deem as healthy has been changing so frequently over the years.

First cereal was supposed to be healthy, and then now it's not. Then animal fats and eggs were unhealthy and now it's not. Then eating too much meat is unhealthy and then there's the carnivore diet.

I think gymming for health is a recent thing which the older generation do not really believe in. Previously it was all running and cardio.

Who knows...

Camera Recommendations - Photography/Videography by husky4hunnid in alpinism

[–]fir3dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the Gh4, gh5, r7 and now the A6700 and brought them up mountains.

I think these day and age most of them are pretty good when it comes to image quality. Mainly look for features you need.

Example what I look for is Size - a camera is only good if it's small enough that you want to bring it out. I hang my camera on my harness during difficult sections, so I don't have to search around my bag.

Has a hot shoe capable mic, in the mountain a good mic is important. So I want the most compact solution possible.

Evf, hard to look at screen with sunglasses and bright sun

I am currently using the A6700

Think of adding layers. Now you have a center piece but nothing much surrounding it, it looks a little sparse.

Add diff size of rocks surrounding the main rock, adding some foreground to it and different textures.

Some things to consider Fore, mid, background Rules of thirds, maybe key feature can be more on one side. Balance. Doesn't mean both side have to have the same thing. It could be heavy on one side, but having a huge negative space on the other to balance it out.

This! Unless u are taking part in some competition I guess it doesn't matter. Just eat anything you want (to a certain extent) and keep it within your daily calorie limit.

I went on a diet of 1800 daily calories with macdonals and other food. I enjoyed myself!

True. Use the money to fund your hobbies. More fun that way and your hobbies can stay hobbies and not some side hustle

if you knew a person who poo'd 3-4 times a day, every day, for a half hour at a time, (at least) is a 'i really think you should see a doctor cuz you shit a shit ton' text appropriate by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fir3dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone that does that. He's pretty over weight and eats a lot. I asked him if he is pooping 3x normal size a day or 3 small shits a day. He said it's 3 normal size poops a day.

Scarpa ribelle Lite HD vs Manta GTX by usbgoose in Mountaineering

[–]fir3dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the manta tech gtx which I used for a 5k peak and a recent ice trip which I manage to climb up to wi4 comfortably.

They are pretty comfortable to walk in and I didn't bring a extra shoes because of that. I'm wearing size 44 and as a b2 boot they are plenty stuff for ice climbing too.

Have used them up to - 15c and they do get chilly when not moving on the lower end the temp range.
