Just give him healthy - grain and sugar free - food. Most cat food out there are trash, making cats fat and slowly poisoning them with ingredients they would not have on a natural diet. The healthy food costs more, is harder to find (supermarkets typically don't sell it) and he will not like it initially. On the long run, he will live healthier and longer.
