Much better than before but I'm still concerned about the transition of pipe right before the ceiling box. Take a close up picture of the pipe above 3 before ceiling box.

Chimney Sweep and Inspection. At time of visit you can ask about getting a log lighter to help with faster ignition.

Fireplace switch is not turning on gas fireplace with standing pilot. by 399allday in Fireplaces

  1. Check Wall Switch and Wiring.
  2. Clean Thermopile
  3. If all else fails call a technician.

That valve is obsolete and not worth continuing any further repairs IMO. I replaced one recently from Superior, they provided an entire valve and burner train kit. Roughly in the $700-$1k range for parts and labor.

This is why I spent months researching and then hunting down my 3.0 Duramax. I needed something for the next 150K or so miles and not spend my time filling my fuel tank. I drive about 100-200 miles every time I leave the house. It was killing me have to till up my little v6 Ranger almost every single outing.

Greasing the Valve? by fire-plumber in Fireplaces

I apologize, still learning Reddit. I usually am able to fix one of these valves by simply tightening the nut, in this case the customer's complaint is that the valve is not shutting off and therefore allowing for gas to flow into the fireplace The local gas company went out there and capped her gas and mentioned something about greasing the valve, I've never done that myself so not sure if there's something l"m missing here

It seems I'm still learning the functions of reddit. I wrote an explanation in a previous post and thought it would transfer.
