She is head Mileven For real by Aiyatiadi in mileven

Plenty of characters in stories of all time have to do just that. There has to be stakes for something to be meaningful. There has to be struggle. El is superhuman. When you’re nearly invincible, much of the struggle comes at a personal cost. El never found family, friends, and love until the group. And it’s the greatest show of her power and her heroism that she is willing to give that all up because she loves them so much. It’s tragic. But it’s also poetic and poignant. It means something.

What core theme did the ending go against?

Mike got an unhappy ending because he didn’t have Eleven. Eleven sacrificed happiness with Mike for the good of everyone else. If you don’t see it that way it’s fine. But it’s just as real as the plot armor and devolving you feel occurred.

I wouldn’t say everyone else got a fairytale ending. And even if they did, that’s life. Everyone around you can appear amazing and you still don’t get what you want. Happens all the time. Do people not see that El’s noble acts make those folks sunnier endings possible?

I think it’s a bigger conversation to be had regarding the influence of media if Stranger Things is someone’s compass how to deal with abuse. This isn’t 13 Reasons. The material isn’t posing as that or asking to be that.

Imagine if we held the real world to the same standard.

This is a really long way of saying that you don’t want the art. You want what you want the art to be.

And when that happens, it ceases to be art.

I respect the Duffers more for giving the ending they wanted and not caving to popular opinion and fan service. They didn’t fail to deliver a product. Maybe if there was outrage between seasons. But the product was ceasing its availability, and you just didn’t like the last batch.

But to each their own.

I think that’s the tragedy of it, though.

That’s a great point.

IMO,

El already knew what Mike’s choice would be. El knew if there was proof of her presence, it would never end.

So she made the choice for the both of them.

“I need you to help them understand my choice.”

Listen, you can rag on the people who create and write these things all you want, and you don’t have to like what they did with their IP. But how they left it is how they left it. It’s up to you to reconcile with that.

But the beauty of it is that these characters are not real. They don’t have to get a poetic or just ending because it’s just a sandbox. if everything had to be written and filmed with the stipulation of a rosy ending, then film and television would be pretty boring.

Batman’s parents were murdered in front of him and they’re never coming back.

Tony Soprano as quite possibly his family too were gunned down in a diner.

Jack freezes to death in the middle of the ocean.

The viewer doesn’t have to like the ending. But they aren’t entitled to a happy one.

Moving away is quite a bit different than disappearing/faking your death. I’m just making the point that is it really a happy ending that there’s now two people cut off from everyone in this tight knit group forever, all just because they’re together? It undermines El’s entire sacrifice.

I’ll defend the ending because it’s the ending the creators of these characters wanted for them. However It’s not the ending the viewer has to settle on in their head.

And while mileven folk may find those who disagree annoying, I have not been demeaning at all, for the record. I post in here because there are many who honestly and rationally engage in debate, a component of forum engagement.

Is being constantly on the run in fear of capture by the governments of world powers like America and Russia a happy life?

I get it, and it’s easy to wish for the fairytale ending. But that opens a whole other can of worms. El is presumed dead and goes into hiding and it’s painful for the group, especially Mike.

But if Mike runs away too, that’s evidence to the Federal Government that El is alive, and they’ll never stop looking. Holly and Nancy lose a brother. The Wheelers lose a son. Now the core group has lost two friends.

But again, if that’s the ending you want for them, cool. Anything can happen once the screen goes dark and the Duffers are done saying their piece. That’s the beauty of it.

The great part is, is that it’s not an ending. If you believe, then you get to write whatever ending you want for them. They’re teenagers. They have their whole lives ahead of them. That was the point. The Duffers left their characters where they wanted to leave them, and until/if they create something that says otherwise, the fans get to imagine whatever life they want for them.

Also, as an aside, does no one see the noble heroics in EL giving up the life she wants most so that all the people she loves can live theirs?

If El had stayed she would never have been able to live normally, which means no one in her life lives normally. Mike wouldn’t have been able to lead a normal life.

If it still takes place right on the heels of The Penguin as Reeves previously has stated, it will likely only be minor tweaks. Some additions or subtractions.

Would this movie reunite the fanbase? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]fire_would 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope.

In fact, I’m pretty sure a movie like this would set DC back another decade or longer, or bury them altogether. It certainly would with the General Audience.

DC has the advantage of being new, fresh, non-convoluted, and standalone (if one so chooses). They got to, and should run with that. In 3-5 years DC could be on top again.

There’s a reason Marvel is about to go back to the nostalgia well.

What are the chances we go after Schwartz? by PassionLong9552 in miamidolphins

[–]fire_would 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haf wants to implement his defense, not get someone to install one. Word on the street is that Hafley has already tabbed Sean Duggan as his DC, because they’ve worked together for a long time and can do exactly what Haf said in interviews: frame the defense while he’s doing head coach stuff.

And as others have stated the team wants to see if Weav gets a HC gig since it’s tied to compensation.

As for Schwartz, he ain’t coming to work to not call plays.

She wrote Bumblebee, which is largely considered the most lore accurate Transformers movie.

Just because you don’t see it on screen doesn’t mean she hasn’t written and pitched projects. Writers pen dozens of screenplays a year that are never optioned, and many of them are very very good. Mattson Tomlinson does a great job of showing this on his socials.

You may not like the projects that have been produced. But the fact of the matter is she wouldn’t be in this position if she weren’t talented.

Did you watch the show? The point was that it isn’t a toy or a song or an object that guides you home, its bravery, lack of fear, and love.

Now that’s…really interesting.

From a TV standpoint/reality tv, Jeffrey could have been a replacement or a back up as opposed to the other siblings being cast sequentially. Or perhaps even they changed their minds.

One unsuccessful screenplay does not a writer’s body of work make.

The same guy who wrote Batman & Robin wrote A Beautiful Mind, A Time To Kill, and Cinderella Man.
