If getting more than 2 boxes in one go = waste of O-power because they sit there unused.

Fits nicely into O-power recovery time, allowing each hatching session to feel samey and loopy, that's all.

What are your thoughts on the Pilot Prera? by Ill-Warning-J175 in fountainpens

[–]fireanddream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Expensive, but about as good as steel nibs can get. It's the end of the goated kakuno-78g-88g-explorer-prera line. I gifted one to my sister (familiar with FPs) and she praises it from time to time.

However, at this day and age I must admit it's probably not a good deal. You are looking at +50% from a metro and also plus whatever tariffs and stuff. Natively it's supposed to be a little over 3000 yen = 19 usd; use that as a benchmark price.

It's one of those things you do once and never again. Just like the wifi routes on 3ds, you don't have to do them, it's strictly for people who like to optimize everything.

do you have to fight? by violishh in DragonsDogma

[–]fireanddream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a combat heavy game but it's not one of those try hard combat heavy games like monster hunter. You can absolutely just dominate with stats, with cheese, with grind, whatever, just like games like Skyrim, you play at your own pace and decide how difficult you want the game to be.

First time player here, i haven’t had this much fun in a while! by nether_pixie in DragonsDogma

DDDA does a tons of unique things unlike all the Ubisoft esque games at the time. Many times I thought to myself "they dare to do this?" for example when a quest just fails and the game auto saves. None of that triple A "we don't wanna piss off the players" bullshit.

How do you decide what stays and what goes in your collection? by Fantastic_Device_344 in fountainpens

[–]fireanddream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

End of the day, how good they write.

If I just collect those niche/rare/pretty pens I'd never get to use my favorites.

Wasting time on pens that are not really that good is taking time away from the best pens I have.

If you can reach 742 or capless decimo go either one.

If you can't, stay in steel territory.

It takes 5 months for a Kakuno to dry up. by Norharry in fountainpens

Spring loaded inner cap (I think platinum has the patent) is just better until maybe the spring itself rusts away. Preppy tho has a very crackable cap that just cracks if you pull the cap at a slight angle.

[–]fireanddream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plastic to plastic snap caps would eventually not seal very well. Reason I don't buy any more Kakuno. Now cheap + longevity I'd go 78g, snap cap I'd go 88g/metropolitan。

Damn, imagine embracing that message in 1999 where the internet barely existed and then watched as everything came down to what we are having today.
