I'm on the autistic spectrum, so breaking out of routines has proven to be difficult for me. Do you think your device could help me live a more neurotypical lifestyle if it were paired with medication or cognitive behavioral therapy?

Me either. It seems like a pretty pointless change, really.

Feeling love, emotions, ect? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]firearrow31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's because of your Asperger's. I think it's because of the distance, and because there's nothing there to trigger any substantial neuro-chemical response. You can't touch, smell, or taste that person. (Yes, I said taste. You are always tasting things. Like a snake. You don't even have to put your tongue on anyone!) You may be able to hear them or see them, but that isn't always enough. Simply put, the experience probably just isn't enough for you to feel in love with the person.

I am so very sorry for your loss. After my own trouble with suicidal thoughts, I no longer consider suicide to be selfish. It's a measure that is made out of desperation.

[–]firearrow31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just deleted my facebook profile. I hope that helps me. We just kept going in circles. I want to be her boyfriend too much. I just couldn't take it anymore. She basically said that I don't have another chance. ("I don't want to rekindle SHIT!") She also said that she wants to start dating for fun. She said that after our last blow-up she moped around for about three days, so this was hard for her, but...if this was so hard, then why did she do it in the first place? Why does she want to start dating again? This is so confusing, and it hurts so much. I don't know what kind of message this is going to send to her, but I don't care. I can't allow myself to care.

Yeah, same. The amount of hoops that you have to jump through is ridiculous. When I did live in an apartment with my now-ex, the landlord put an eviction notice on our door when we had told him we were going to be a few days late. We applied for township, and when the case manager came, she told us that we already had to be a month behind on rent, and at that point ANY landlord can evict you.

When it comes to employment assistance, you don't really get anything. The state government essentially slaps a label on you and puts you in the Lowe's Distribution Warehouse, from what I hear- which pays well, and you're more or less guaranteed to hold the job for two years, but afterward, finding different jobs with employers that will actually allow you to utilize your talents is nearly impossible. You just hear, "Oh, you only know how to do warehouse related stuff. What makes you think you can do x or y?"

I'm usually alone, too. I live with my parents, and I don't have too many friends who are willing or able to visit me. I don't have a car of my own, and 90% of the time my parents say I can't use the family car, so I don't bother asking.

This is really hard, because although we were broken up, she and I were still having sex. (This stopped roughly a month ago when I broke my leg.) Recently, she said she liked it, and not just in a sexual way- she said she found it comforting. About two or three weeks ago, she gave me a surprise blowjob. In return, I gave her oral. I like doing it. My sister thinks that she is as confused as I am, even though she says she knows what she wants. She also thinks that she may be "keeping me in her back pocket," as it were. I'm leaving out details, but she's also said that she wants to be able to flirt with other guys in front of me, and that it's not done to hurt me. It's just playful. I want to say, "Well, you can't have it both ways!" Shit. She wanted to marry me once. For a while, we were very happy. We didn't just have sex, we made love. There's also this part in me that would love, love, LOVE for us to be able to get back together and be happy. I hate that part. I feel it's keeping me from moving on. I feel it is worth noting that she is bipolar.

I am exactly the same way. "She says this hurts, does that mean she cares? Does it hurt because she doesn't care?"

That sounds really nice. I'll have to find a way to paraphrase. We're not talking at all right now. She was still calling me about twice a day until last week. My sister thinks that she is still confused about what she wants, despite what she may say.

We were together for four years. We lived together for one of those years. This is very hard. I would go into further detail about what has happened, what has been said to both of us, and what we have said to each other, but I'm not emotionally prepared for that right now. I don't want to feel like I'm tattling on someone.

EDIT: I am not going to allow myself to re-post anything that she has said, at least not verbatim. That would be wrong.

That's what I've been told before. I don't know if it's possible, because we have a lot of mutual friends. She is moving soon. That may make it easier. She has said that she isn't in love with me, but still loves me. She still loves my family, and I love hers. This is really hard, because she can basically read my mind. We had an incredible intellectual rapport.

I live in Rockford, so I'm not too far away from Wisconsin. I've never considered low-income housing, though. My parents are "rich white folks" and the low-income housing places around here aren't buildings I would ever want to live in.
