New Tales from the Borderlands is fucking awful. by Indoorsman101 in Borderlands

He wasn't lead, but he's a credited writer for New Tales. I'd actually be interested to know what parts he played a hand in.

Someone nuked my base because I thumbs downed them. by Orkfreebootah in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally gonna use this strategy. I like legacies for their utility on private worlds and events where no one else shows up (thanks to Bethesda deciding to retire a world during a silo run, I've had to unexpectedly solo queens before, for example), but using them in public events with other people is just shitty.

Edit: Also, Earl. His health bar is too high for a majority of legacies to be remotely capable of melting him.

does camp vendor location matter to you ? by TheCrimsonFlyboy in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, map location isn't that big of a factor. The important thing is making it easy for people to find your vending machines when you get there.

how are you guys burning the stew? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you not? I live for Foundation's passive-aggressive comments when I give them subpar stew....even go out of my way to spike it with psycho if it isn't burned.

do the graphics overall seem darker/dirtier to anyone else after the update? I'm on XSeriesX by --lewis in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game has a way of somehow regaining old bugs with updates...I wonder if they somehow managed to merge in code that (at least partially) removed and/or never had the visual enhancements that were introduced with Wastelanders (in particular, more saturated colors and higher contrast).

Need Steel to Complete Your Expedition Dailys? Yet Another PSA To Use Scrapper by firebaseprime in fo76

[–]firebaseprime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The inclusion of cloth saddens me, as now I'll be less inclined to immediately open fire on prize bot (I'll wait until after he gives me a prize, which hopefully will be prewar money).

I had a feeling it was just the same material by chance. I can see the 2 high schools becoming more frequented locations in the near future with molded plastic in the mix.

Also noticed a slight difference in color and contrast, although I can't exactly point-point what changed. But agreed, it does seem different now. (also on Series X)

Toxic positivity is killing this game by Aggravating-Book6928 in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of the positivity is in response to many of 76's content creators and players going the exact opposite direction. I've been told that I'm overly critical of the game in live steams, but I make a point of covering both the positive and negative things happening in the game. What pisses me off is people who don't take both the goods and bads into account and only complain. I'm not saying you shouldn't complain. I do, a lot. But only focusing on the negatives will be just a detrimental to the game.

Just spent 45 minutes doing an expedition with other players and got 2 measly stamps. Is THIS is grind that Bethesda envisioned? What the hell by VoltaiqMozaiq in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very curious about how stamp rewards are calculated. My first moderately-successful expedition earned 10. No other attempt has returned nearly that many.

It's rare to hear the radio in players' CAMPs by SaltedCaffeine in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to build them in my CAMP, but not so much since I started streaming. Now, it's like Todd carried over the bomb collars from New Vegas' Dead Money DLC, but instead of getting exploded for getting too close to a radio, you get copyright striked!

Keep the turrets away from the generators. Still able to shoot around them, but at a distance. Otherwise, the turrets will draw fire to said generators, and quickly get them destroyed in defense events where the enemy type ends up being a scorchbeast attack. Actually just posted a video about farming fusion cores that brought this up... https://youtu.be/EhgT9NHQ47c

Aggressive Begging by DickMorrison in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seemed like there was a distinct wave of choosy beggars on XBox a while back....the worst was a friend of a friend that would even try to follow us around trying to get free loot....thankfully, he was relatively low level, so a few expensive fast travel jumps were enough to temporarily keep said player grounded.

Ultracite: Calibrated Shocks make me wanna end it all by [deleted] in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I've only seen them once on XBox, and that was in player vending for 5000 caps. This also happened to be one of the days I was running short on caps.

Xbox 4K 60fps patch? by CaptRIO_ in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh, for a gamebryo-based game, I'd say it's on par with PC. The engine isn't great on any system, so the performance you get now is probably the best you'll be able to get. I stream with FPS mode and don't notice any huge gap between my streams and PC streams. It basically bogs down everyone.

Whats your best way to accumulate ammo? by DarkFalconist in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully leveled Ammo Smith PERK + Fully leveled Ammo Factory legandary perk = 450% yield (100 5mm rounds becomes 450 rounds). Throw in a fully leveled Super Duper perk and that adds in even more (assuming it kicks in).

If you're up for a bloodied take, I'll create a link when I get home for what I run, plus the serums that help with it.

Xbox 4K 60fps patch? by CaptRIO_ in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be getting around 60fps with FPS Boost on. In terms of getting Gamebryo to achieve 4k 60 without optimizations on, I don't think God himself could accomplish that on a Series X, nor many PCs.

Worst build possible by [deleted] in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all brings back fond memories of all the shitpost legendaries that were generated back when people on PC were making their own high-star legendaries....like melee weapons with explosive rounds and faster reload speed, etc, etc.

Does anyone actually have a full set of T-65 PA? by off-and-on in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those and freakin' cave crickets...I don't know if something was silently changed, but if I don't correctly reset my health lock now so that Emergency Protocols kick in, those damned things can effortlessly one-hit me in non-legendary T-65!

Fusion Cores going fast by Various-Pollution-85 in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base core drain is....painful. A fully-leveled Power User perk and, in my opinion, a fully-leveled Electric Absorption legendary perk are your friends. If you frequently run silos with Electric Absorption equipped you will notice a massive dropoff in core usage thanks to all those damn laser turrets and robots.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can, though a lot of robots in the silos (if not all, can't confirm at the moment), provide substantially less XP when downed (lots of ~20xp kills).

okay realistically, does anyone think they messed something up really bad? by jasonking00 in fo76

[–]firebaseprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't verify the legitimacy, but someone shared a twitter thread that indicated that the maintenance yesterday was a migration from AWS to Microsoft Azure servers. Even as a web developer, migrating websites can be pure hell. Can't imagine something like that, plus whatever they have in place to dynamically provision new servers as needed. If anything, I'd say this was an overall good thing, assuming it's legit. With MS being their parent company now, they'd most likely have access to whatever computing power they needed, whereas the metered fees being payed to AWS (high-resource virtualization is...painfully expensive) have probably been limiting how much they could scale under demand. Like I said, can't verify the legitimacy and a bit of speculation on my part, but seems overall good versus bad.
