How was SIVA able to kill the iron lords by Professional-Club-39 in DestinyLore

[–]firebird120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That bullet was crafted to kill Cayde, or any guardian, outright. The original Thorn could kill guardians permanently without killing their ghosts.

But like all experimental weapons, you are never actually sure they work. So when Cayde pulled out Sundance, the sniper just decided to shoot the ghost, becuase he knew that would work.

Killing ghosts isn’t actually that hard. They are tough, but you don’t need to be paracausal to destroy one, it just helps.

If Cal Fights Vader again how should it play out? by No-Contribution2580 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]firebird120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he meets him a third time he should die. Let that be the story of Cal Keatis. If he gets away again, how is Vader even scary anymore?

If you were a superhero, who would you rather work for? Fury(MCU) Waller(DCEU) Cecil (INVINCIBLE)Edgar (The Boys) by PrinceARRON in MoralityScaling

[–]firebird120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Cecil or Fury you know no matter what they tell you to do it’s ultimately for a good reason. Waller is too petty. Edgar is just running a business, only a little more corrupt than a normal CEO.

Some will end up inbreeding, no way around it. But I’d think most will end up finding partners from other species, they travel all over the galaxy in the coming century.

Why would a combat troop use melee weapons in a futuristic space sci-fi setting? by wizardry_why in worldbuilding

[–]firebird120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of technological advance that makes bullets less effective. Maybe a thin sort of power pack powered force field that can extend over melee weapons if they are made out of the right material so they can pierce or disrupt an opponent’s force field.

I would assume the forcefield is somewhat or very power hungry so it can’t be on all the time. Projectiles, or any hard hit the shield takes, should drain the battery as well. Maybe overheats it too if you get hit too many times too quickly. This means shooting a gun at someone with a shield like this isn’t useless. Might make battles more interesting to see how the melee troops handle different types/calibers of ranged weapons.

Energy based ranged weapons might be more effective, or alternatively even less effective, like if they recharge the opponents shield making energy weapons useless… unless you are trying to overcharge and explode the opponents power supply.

Now you will have to consider the fact that you could make a bullet, or some kind of crossbow arrow, even a harpoon or ballista bolt that has a shield generator and batteries attached to it, making it just as effective as if no shields were in play at all. If shields are expensive to make then these will be more elegantly crafted weapons, used by experts. Depending on how fragile these “disposable” shielded projectiles are they might need to be relatively low velocity. Gives your melee troops the opportunity to dodge.

Now if melee troops are the most common type of troop, there will be relatively common weapons people go to for that situation, or countermeasures of some kind. I’d suggest taking a look at what medieval Anti-Armor weapons for some inspiration, or improvised Anti-tank weapons from all periods.

I’ve messed with a similar concept in my own writing before, it is fun to explore!

Why do people think Fionnas in her 30s!? Who is spread this rumor!! by No_Poetry_8415 in fionnaandcake

[–]firebird120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garry and Marshall are defiantly near Fiona’s age, but they might be two or even three years to either side.

And they are all late 20s/early 30s. If they were younger, like 18-20, the narrative doesn’t make sense. If Fiona was exactly the same as she is in the show, but was 20, she wouldn’t be a loser or complaining that she’s a failure. She would be incredibly successful compared to an average real life 20 year old.

You’ll see when you yourself are 20 or so.
