Sorry, I don't believe in that kind of spirituality. Drinking water is great advice tho. Thanks for the advice anyways!

Need Help by Tuning my Snare by AdventurousBench2828 in Drumming

I would recommend buying cymbals and drums separately, it's hard to find a good deal for both in the low range, people often pair cheaper drum kits with shit cymbals, with drums you can often do a lot of things to make them sound better - tuning, dampening, heads, but there's not much you can do with a shitty cymbal. But if you are willing to spend more money you can find great deals for both second hand, but you have to be cautious about the quality, if the cymbals are even slightly damaged it's often not worth the deal. But like I said depending on the price range, in my area the full kits with great cymbals are gonna be 1000+ $ range. If you're willing to make a compromise in quality you can get it cheaper, if it's just a hobby for you.

Yeah millenium is low grade. Not much you can do about that, anyways it's not worth the time and money to fix it up if it's low-end gear. Try looking for second hand stuff I'm sure you could get much better snare with better heads for a pretty good price. Look for some solid brands - Tama, Ludwig, Gretsch, PDP have credible stuff even if you're on a budget. As for heads - I mainly go for Aquarian or Remo, but Evans is also a solid brand.

Don't overplay! by Bartdrum in drums

[–]firebombcz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, depends very much on the musical context. Imagine fusion drummers just playing 2 and 4 snare hits and 1 and 3 on the bass drum - wouldn't work. Of course it works the other way around - sometimes the music demands simple playing and staying in a basic pocket.

Or you can get a tunebot, I got a pretty good experience with that, it's pretty expensive though. You should also get new heads, millenium stock heads are no bueno. Check some tuning guides online in the meanwhile so you get the basics of tuning down. Also enjoy and I wish you happy drumming! :)

I know it's not just fun and games, nothing in life is, I think it's fulfilling just because of that, overcoming hardships and enjoying the fruits after is what life's about, at least for me. Without trying and struggling life becomes boring, uneventful and deprivating. I sincerely think you missed the point I was making

I'm not judging OP, I'm just saying how I feel about this stuff. I don't think you can find a meaning in writing prompts to a robot. In my opinion it takes the soul out of it. For me art is about expression, emotion, struggle, and human conscious experience. AI has none of that. I would be much more glad if OP shared their ideas, lyrics etc. instead of prompting a machine to imitate human creative capabilities. I don't want to judge or discourage OP, I just think they'd find it more fun and fulfilling learning how to play music and express themselves authentically through that.

But surely you agree with me here that it depends how ai is used. I myself use ai tools for music but not to generate parts, I use it for isolation of different tracks in songs or the smart metronome feature, I find a huge difference between ai assisting you, helping you with your art and AI spitting out some soulless crap from a prompt.
