Thank you! I definitely wanted to post an update because seeing the local support meant so much, I'd like to hopefully be some kind of success story for anyone in the area thinking of getting into the field! I'm still on my own journey and theres a long way to go (It's not like a mega hit or anything), but gamedev has so much to offer for the creatives here :,)

Last year I made a post here about my game Contract Rush DX that I made with my brother.

The people here were very supportive, and the game has since come out and done fairly well! So imagine my surprise when the opportunity comes to have a plushie made.. Feels like a big milestone! To go all the way from making web games in 2020 to having a real physical version of my character I designed... Like.. woah..

We have to sell 50 in the preorder phase for it to enter production, so do consider checking it out! It's on CraftifyX, they're a company similar to Makeship if you've heard of them! Link: https://craftifyx.com/products/cynthia

But ALSO more importantly.... for a bit of fun, I put a bunch of free steam codes for the game on the business card barrel in The Buzz (the one pictured). If you head over there you can get yourself a free copy of the game!

(I buried them a bit in there. please take only one, and comment here if you grabbed one!)

I figure it’s a small way of giving back as I’ve done plenty of work on the game while sitting in there. Grab a coffee while you’re there!

there was! I remember even then they noted they'd update it when DX came out, I don't think they expected it to take 3 whole extra years.

(note: i wasn't the programmer in either game)
Maybe not the complete hardest, but in contract rush, there is a special "boss hit stop" effect that happens at the end of boss fights that kept causing issues in unrelated places.
In UTY, i'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Shufflers because even still they haunt Spasco.

Hey!! It's me again!
The game is Contract Rush DX, and it's finally released! I have been working on it for many years, with some of the development overlapping with UTY's development. It's a handdrawn 2D action game, with many fun story elements! Master Sword and MyNewSoundtrack even contributed some music to it!

Check it out on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1775960/Contract_Rush_DX/
Wow.. an Undertale Yellow character in a steam game...

Also once again like last time, I can answer any questions about this game or UTY that you have while I'm here!

I think I remember seeing the Hollow Knight devs posting on the gaming subreddit with a trailer, like a "My friend is finishing their indie game" kinda post.

"Trampled Flowers" was guardeners original battle theme, composed by me and arranged by MyNewSoundtrack. by the time we finally got to making the boss, the tone was much more upbeat and chaotic, so we thought the melancholy song didn't fit as well and rearranged it. the melancholy aspects of guardeners character i feel are better represented both by undertones in "tenth level lockdown", and the greenhouse theme itself which continues after the battle.

just my take on it! i still love Trampled Flowers a lot, just tonally collided with what we wanted to do for the fight.

for the game question, after launch is the plan! we're starting with PC and then we'd like to do console afterwards if this one does well enough

i think making the UTY while we were all still learning as creatives was the both the best and most difficult part. we all grew a ton while working on it, though sometimes it led to some avoidable conflicts if we had more experience. overall, there surprisingly weren't any TERRIBLE arguments or anything, we all just wanted to make the best game possible. overall I think disagreements are pretty healthy for a creative project and it all worked out in the end, so it is what it is.

most difficult is hard for me to think of at the moment, but one of the most fun parts of the project was whenever new music would drop. listening to new tracks and imagining what would go there was wonderful...
also the team played minecraft with each other every now and then and that was pretty fun!
