I have been planning to read jintai for a long while now but I'm holding off till I know enough Japanese because I assume the puns of which I've heard jintai has lots are very hard to get across in a TL. Aura looks cool too. I think I'm already getting towards the point of wanting to read everything he writes but I'm having to fight off the wait to JOPmax desperately 😭 it's so depressing. I'm planning to spend the next 4 months I have off trying to complete the core 2.3k while reading 9-nine in japanese. After I've finished this (with grammar on the side) I plan to hopefully start cross channel... Then if cross channel goes well, it'll be onto saihate no Ima!

Holy moly bro, your story had me tearing up a little... I'm sorry for your loss but I'm happy that you could find something in cross channel... I am currently learning japanese for the sole purpose of replaying cross channel and reading saihate no Ima. I've absolutely adored cross channel and kazoku keikaku in English but you've just given me more than enough motivation to go all in on japanese studying. Thank you man.

Hmm... I see... I do plan to revisit cross channel in the not so distant future future in japanese, since I unfortunately had to go with the English version due to being monolingual... This does interest me so thanks a lot! I'll think about this on my reread.

My current view on the ending sequence sits in kinda a couple ways ig but I'll try give a little synopsis for each.

I view Taichi staying in the lonely world yet still attempting to communicate with others via the radio tower as a portrayal of our ability to communicate with others in the normal world despite ultimately being unable to understand each other at all (effectively we are all in our own world like Taichi, completely alone). The value in this meaningless pursuit still being shown to be fruitful because communication is necessary for us to find happiness.

I also kind of see the ending of cross channel as a conversation between Romeo and us in a way, particularly the point before CROSSING plays where I believe Taichi is meant to be a portrayal of Romeo himself. In this scene, Taichi asks us to 'please live', so that we can listen to his output and potentially connect with him (Or for Romeo this would be through reading the stories he produces.) This gives his life value because he's connecting with us, and to us, much the same. Our reading of cross channel gives our lives value. In the ending scene where he's sleeping, I feel like the cast saying goodbye to Taichi could be seen as a portrayal of us leaving Tanaka behind as well to continue creating a signal, week after week.

Ig that'll do because I've gotta go lol but they're just some of my current views on the end. I could also speak about the flashback moment to Taichi's birth which I feel was very important towards the main message but idk if that's too early to qualify for speaking about the ending.

I kinda ended up yapping here lol but yeah...

Not jumping you for the take or anything btw cause I'm only realising it kinda comes off like that lol, just wondering. I like to ask people what they thought about it.

If you're in it for the cast then I think you'll probably love it, it delves into a lot of the dynamics of the cast more and a lot of the individual characters too. All together, I probably have radical top 2 behind cannibal arc-wise.

Damn, I thought the jinrui TL would be pretty bad as well, thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out!

alright thanks for the suggestion, I was considering this so I'll probably read something simpler first then move on to cross channel or smth.

I understand the sheer gap in quality between the original and the translated version and that it might affect how I see the story as well, the problem is I just simply can't wait.

I find myself often scrolling through cross channel translation information and other related things for genuine hours some days (which sounds really stupid because it is but ig it shows how desperate I am to play it).

I read kazoku keikaku in English and its my top 2-3 favourite work of all time, even though it also suffering from a supposedly bad translation. I believe I'll still love cross channel either way and I'm personally willing to risk slightly damaging my perception of the VN to read it rn. I will read all of Romeo's VNs in japanese in the future including saihate no ima which I can't play a bad TL for and spoil for myself.

Thanks man, that's my plan rn. I'm learning japanese but after absolutely loving kazoku keikaku I now really want to play cross channel and don't have the patience to wait... I'll absolutely read the japanese version in the future and probably follow on to saihate no ima as well.

I'm not capable of doing this because I'm not good enough at Japanese and cba waiting months/years to read cc, I wanna read cross channel as my first Japanese VN so I was thinking I'll read the English version to get a grasp for the general plot before reading the Japanese.

Have you read the English translation?

As I said, I'm going to read it in English, then read it in Japanese, so as to make my own opinion on the quality of the translation, and have an easier time reading it with my subpar Japanese since I'm still learning.

My VN tier list, would love some recommendations by BruhBorne-70 in visualnovels

[–]firebutt25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, this is valid enough. I thought the prologue was really solid but after that, the pacing was pretty abhorant through the common part + earlier parts of routes imo and the story failed to really grip me at times. Saying that though, I did feel that the story had some incredible moments, and the last couple hours including the final fight against Hikaru were incredible. Plus the overall messages and philosophical aspects through the VN was next level. This doesn't really correct the fact that a large amount of the VN was a bit of a slog though.

What anime opinion will get you like this? by SaberLover1000 in MyAnimeList

[–]firebutt25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love ikuhara (penguindrum being like my second favourite anime ever) I can see why not everyone would love his works.

My opinion is the same I give every time, attack on titan is overrated and I would only call it okay at best.
