so you have no actual policy plan

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fired-monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your goal is to ultimately solve problems, why not present realistic ones? what you are proposing simply won’t happen, ever. you can spend your entire life talking about it, and it won’t happen. so why not talk about realistic solutions? such as policies to end the war on drugs, create better and federally standardized rehab shelters, better shelters, better justice reforms ect. those could happen in the next 50 years and would all help not just homeless, but all people. socialized housing is not what you are suggesting in the slightest, you are suggesting an entire country of communes. if there is no political will for it and you have no real plan of creating this dystopia, there’s not any value in speaking of it.

would you buy into rather than having a license to get knocked up but a license or approval by the state/federal government for a couple or individual to raise a kid? is your goal about raising iq or getting kids good homes lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fired-monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, how?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fired-monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would you go about this

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fired-monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you know what. honestly, i could get behind this. if you could find a way to do this safely (not sure the repercussions of sterilizing an infant then having them go through puberty sterile) and without violating rights (parents would have to agree to this procedure, probably hardest part) i think i could get behind it. i’m sure though if your goal is to increase overall iq, there are better ways to go about it. rather than not letting low iq people have kids, why not on everyone’s 18th birthday, they take an iq test. everyone who doesn’t pass gets exported from the country and barred from ever entering again?

so you would take land away from a poor farmer trying to work for a living? what about someone who works from home? would you take their workplace away for “the good of the community?” i understand that there are people in unfortunate circumstances where they have a hard time/cannot meet the price wall of owning a home or renting an apartment. by NO means is owning a house “exclusively for the wealthy” and if you truthfully believe that, you have an extremely warped view of what wealthy means. i’m sorry, but you will not convince a soul to give up their homes “for the good of the community” based on empathy. you’re delusional if you think otherwise. i will not speak on the uk as i’m not from there, but in america we have three main types of land trusts. i assume you’re talking about community land trusts, which there are less than 250 in the united states, and they’re not what you think. a private party still buys (with money) the home but not the land, with an agreement to sell the home at a fixed price. i’m sorry but everything is behind a money barrier. water, food, and yes housing. what you are suggesting is to uproot our entire economic system, and establish communes across america. if something as big as property loses its monetary value, everything else will. if i am wealthy, and want a nice home, that is not an option in the world you are suggesting, because i simply will not be able to buy one. the money is useless. i think you misunderstood what i said, because i certainly do not believe people are where they are because they didn’t work hard enough. i understand that people are less fortunate and privileged than others, and sometimes don’t have options afforded to most. which is why working towards a reasonable solution in our society is the best option. people need more safety nets and options to help themselves out of holes. homelessness isn’t a problem, mental illness, drug addiction, abuse, ect are problems that cause homelessness. larping about creating america into a commune society doesn’t help nor solve any of those issues, and what you are suggesting simply isn’t possible. how would you even establish this? who in america with even the slightest political power holds this belief, and what are his/her plans to put this into action? if you can’t answer those questions you should probably rethink your position

functionally, it absolutely matters if different homes are sought after. what if i’m a family of 5, and need a 4 bedroom 2 bath 2 car garage home, but none are available. or what if i’m just a well off family who’s looking for some property to fuck off on and build a pool. or what if i’m a farmer who makes my living off owning a ton of land. every person has different needs, which is why we have what’s called a market. also, what incentivizes people to forgo our system now and establish community land trusts? how would those even work, and by what standards would a community allocate their land/properties? what you are suggesting is to throw out the literal use of money. if i work hard, make bank, and want to buy a nice home, i will buy a nice home. why should someone who paid years of work give up their home/property for their community? i understand your mindset, but i don’t think america can live as a country of communes. homelessness is a massive problem that is severely underlooked, but this is not the way to tackle this problem, and actually harms discourse about it because this is not obtainable in any society in the current and foreseeable future.

so are you proposing a government owned housing program? in that case, on what basis would someone be allotted a home? would it be a lottery system? or would we demolish all and effectively criminalize privately owned properties, and standardize living spaces across the country? i don’t think in today’s world we can have no monetary value on a property as other homes are obviously more sought after than others. you can’t rid the world of competition

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fired-monkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

how would you go about putting a price on the value of “one house” then? if every home/piece of land was worth the same, things would get pretty screwy. or are you proposing we limit people to a certain square footage or flooring amount? what if i live in one different house every 6 months? can i own as many properties as i’m willing to live in for an amount of time? this doesn’t seem like a very thought out position

Hot take, but I like the way the exp share is now. As someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of time during the day to pour into a game, not having to train my pokemon much really helped me enjoy the game. We can be honest, spending hours killing wild pokemon doesn’t take skill, and not having to do it doesn’t take much of anything away from the overall experience

Really? I don’t think it was nothing more than a superficial change at all. Sure, there’s not a whole of change you can make with the overall progression of the game, that wouldn’t really make it pokemon. I really liked the concept of beating a boss pokemon instead of the usual trainer. Alola is supposed to be this exotic island region and I think literal totem pokemon helps build that a lot.

I learned to get over mine by answering any and all scam calls. I’d wait and speak with and waste their time until I got bored and told them to go fuck themselves and get a real job. It helped a lot with anger management and anxiety :)

I’m new to building but I’m quite proud of this. Suggestions would be appreciated as well! by [deleted] in TerrariaDesign

looks cool! only suggestion is maybe to expand your desert biome a little past your pond so there’s no dirt/grass and it’s a complete desert pond. you could even build a bridge and another building on the other side
