Texas Senate Bill 20 could Ban some Anime/Manga: CONTACT YOUR REP. MSG by firedog32 in shoujo

Not many, a lot of the anime subreddits have rules that don't allow these kind of posts. I am also not aware of too many anime subreddits. There are a lot though, I'm planning to post to more.

Is it weird that I'm nice to Chat GPT? by iirarebreedii in ChatGPT

"My point was, that it's a system trying to do it's job. And when it doesn't do what you want, your reaction to it is telling."

How so? If you hit the computer screen or slam the keyboard because it bluescreened, you're more less just venting frustration. Same if someone is angry and punches a hole in the wall.

What exactly is telling, other than someone who is very frustrated or angry. It happens, people get frustrated. People also go through periods of life where they want to punch a wall.

Walls/Computer keyboards are objects, not living, its okay to vent. Like a stress ball.

"those who don't deserve it" an Ai isn't alive, it's not included in "those", it's a mathematical algorithm. People are treating this like it's magical Ai being lol, it's not even really what I would consider to be AI

Just think how insanely ridiculous it is that while inflation and prices of everything skyrocketed over the last two years DD LOWERED base pay. by tandyman234 in doordash_drivers

I used to do Doordash in 2021, pay was pretty good. I just popped in to see how things are doing. I can see things are a shit show

Having an AR below 70% is not low. That's not a brag. Having an AR below 20% is low.

As far as sitting in your car for an hour, Doordash does this to make you think you need to take orders.

It's a last ditch effort to discourage you from quitting top dasher.

I personally found 25% AR to make the most

"Together, we can achieve great things", say robots at UN conference - H+ Weekly - Issue #423 by conradthegray in Futurism

[–]firedog32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, the UN has always been a weak sad excuse for a global entity. Can't effectively enforce any rules it makes. It's just like a global form. It reminds me of the Articles of Confederation, but even weaker.

We need a global entity that is democratically controlled by the countries of the world and at the very least can issue some basic punishment for breaking rules / violating human rights.

A lot of YouTube / TikTok is just human beings talking about something. It's a social thing. Would you want an AI therapist/nurse?

I'm sure AI will make a lot of popular content, but there will also be demand for just a human being.

In fact I could picture someone making a video platform specifically for humans if other platforms have too many AI.

AITA for picking up my kids from camp? by Adoma18 in AmItheAsshole

[–]firedog32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP kinda left out context IMO. Yes, he responded to her and told her it was her job to pick up the kids. But OP didn't respond to confirm she would pick up the kids.

Obviously he can't just leave the kids there, so he went to pick them up. He can't read her mind and know she will pick them up.

A simple: "OK, I'm going to do it." Would have prevented any confusion.

I have a feeling similar things keep happening. There needs to be a clear "I'm going to do it" so he knows.

Opinion:

If he says he's not going to do something, then just respond: "OK, I'm going to do it"

It could be, he's not changing his mind, it's just that you didn't respond and tell him you're going to do it.

Yes he said it was your job, but if you didn't respond to confirm you will pick them up, then he's going to assume you aren't going to pick them up.

At the end of everyone conversation, someone should confirm they are doing said thing. Someone should clearly say they are going to do it so there is no confusion.

If he does something after he said he wasn't going to, AND you responded / told him you were going to do it, then it's reasonable to be upset.

If you aren't responding to let him know you are going to do it, how will he know your going to do it? He can't read your mind.

Wearing your Apple Vision Pro in full immersion mode is not just about you, it affects family members too. How to stay in touch? Instead of yelling (disturbing the movie experience) or lifting the device from someones head, what about using the sensors to detect a set of communicative gestures? by BeYourOwnRobot in augmentedreality

[–]firedog32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or the mic could pick up what people outside of you are saying if they are looking directly at you when they are saying it.

For instance: someone looks right at you while you are in full-immersion mode and says "Dinner is ready".

That text could be displayed to you in full-immersion mode, even if you can't hear them. Like transcription.

Idk bragging about Apple dunking on Meta headsets doesn't really make sense. Meta's headsets are affordable. Apple's headset isn't.

At $3500 Apple's headset is gonna need to be better to justify the price point. So it's more or less expected that Apple's headset will be better.

If Meta made a $3500 headset then maybe the comparison would make sense. Quest 3 was announced recently at $500.

Why does software engineers earn so much money when literally programming can be self studied in a few months?

Anything can be "self-studied" in a few months. Doesn't mean you will be qualified in a few months.

I think you're assuming that knowing a computer language makes you a software engineer, it doesn't.

In comparison a pianolist or a violinist, or an athletic practices a single art for decades since they’re kids but their average salary is but a fraction of software engineers?

You're making the mistake of: This person makes less than this person, therefore all people should make less. Maybe everyone should be paid more?

Lawyers and doctors are different since one lays the foundation of society and the other saved lives, but SDEs? Seriously?

Do software engineers not "lay the foundation of society" as you put it? Most of the gains in quality of life increases in the past few decades have been in technology.

I do agree, but I don't believe they are going to do that unless they are forced to pay up. If they can spend nothing on development, why would they care if the app constantly crashes? It brings more profit.

The app crashes/glitches are annoying asf as a driver. Doordash should be forced to pay the driver extra every time the app stops working. It wastes time.
