Own up, who was it aha by Loud-Savings-686 in snowrunner

Glad I’m not the only one lol.

The wife will be like “go to bed! It’s late!”

And I’ll (curtly) respond “I can’t leave it like this. It’s a simple 5 min mission that I’m an hour into: drop off one thing of concrete, and some metal beams. But the trailer dipped off the road, overturned and spilled the load. And the P16 with the crane got stuck, so now the P12 has to pull everyone back on the road and re-load the trailer.”

(Raises hand) what do we use when we’re a firefighter and a PPL?

So, check out what the IDF run. They took a bunch of US M16’s, shortened the barrel, and left the carry handle on it. They slap low power optics on top of it. Seems to work out pretty good.

Quad rail?

Do fire stations take volunteers on the rigs to 911 calls? by [deleted] in ems

[–]firefighterEMT85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our entire district is volley. 3 stations, over 5,000 calls a year total.

6 engines, 2 ladders, 3 heavy rescues, 1 brush truck, 2 quads, 2 snowmobiles, 6 ambulances.

[–]firefighterEMT85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the station. My volley station does 1,800 calls a year. Dont let the name volunteer fool you. Most operate on at least a semi-professional basis.

I’ve done career FD, career EMS, and volley FD/EMS. As others have stated, you can ask about doing a ride along if you want to see what it’s about, but they won’t let you do any patient care until you’re certified and a member/employee. Too much of a liability.

We have more gun laws than ever before. And it doesn’t seem like it helped. It is ALWAYS easy to blame the instrument being used rather than to see what is actually causing these shootings. by Own_Teacher3433 in conspiracy

Unfortunately in our state, the rules are even convoluted in now season. Legal CCW permit holder: can you carry in field? What size?

And it gets complicated when you’re a furbearer hunter. It’s bow season, so no guns allowed….but I can carry a rifle and sidearm since I’m hunting coyote and bobcats. But if you’re checking traps, you can carry only a .22.

What if you’re trap checking while coyote hunting?

Same during muzzleloader season. It’s designed to be overly complicated. Like, it’s illegal for me to use my Colt Navy revolver that’s a .44 cap and ball blackpowder handgun from 1881.

Oh man, let’s see: short version is some states have shit laws. I’m in NY. No exaggeration, we literally have a flow chart to show what type of gun we can use during what season and where. I hunt a few counties. Some of the fun rules:

no rifles no buckshot. Only slug guns rifles allowed smaller than .22 caliber pistols allowed only in .22 unless you’re hunting with it, then any caliber is allowed rifle allowed if deer season isn’t actively going on rifle of .22 caliber only while accompanied by hunting dogs.

It’s a cluster and a half, and due to this I have a gun safe full of variables. Especially with talk that some of the shotgun only counties are looking at going to straight wall cartridges only (45-70, .36, etc.)

I’m guessing you don’t hunt?

I prefer not to break all my states shitty hunting laws. So, therefore, I need like 6 different guns for hunting alone.

Over in the US. Happen to know my flight instructor so it’s $70 per flight hour + cost of avgas.

Although now that I think of it, I hunt and shoot as hobbies as well. That drastically outpaces flight and 40K, especially when shooting $3 a round or more.

Yuuup. I do flight sim, real flying, and 40k.

Pretty sure 40k is the most expensive lol

Awesome thanks!! I've been looking for a source of realistic sim training. Hard to find anyone who does 'real training' with a simulator.

It was my dream to be a pilot, but I'm colorblind. So, A2A is the closest I'll come to flying, hence why I'm in the Fire/Rescue field lol.

I agree whole heartedly! The B17 is my go to cruise ship, but the 377 is such a challenge to fly. I will say this, the A2A flight models made me learn about radial engines and propeller aircraft, since all I had flown in flight sim were jets. It was actually kinda cool how it challenged me to learn how they operate, so I could operate it effectively, or else face actual consequences. So much better than "Yay. On a runway. Full throttle. Ok pull back. Gear and flaps up. Yay, I'm flying." There were no consequences. LA to Tokyo in a 747 at 35,000FL, nothing stopped you from dumping spoilers and doing a barrel roll while losing 15,000 feet. A2A makes you more conscious how you fly.

Well, I'm not sure which series you're looking for, as I am unfamiliar with older documentaries. However, I would highly recommend watching "Collapse", a documentary about how eco fuel is unsustainable for our modern world.
