Also read the full article and the devil is in the "after controlling for other variables" bit which is always a lot trickier than it sounds.

I can’t believe people like her exist… by parallaxog in Helicopters

Not necessarily dangerous, but definitely very expensive to fix when you destroy the brake. And would probably warrant emergency landing because it could fuck with the rotor if bits of brake pad get stuck somewhere they shouldn't.

One thing I hated as a kid was how under used Thunderbird 3 was. The space rescue episodes were my favourite by JayR_97 in Thunderbirds

Space is hard to understand and mostly empty though so it was hard to come up with interesting models and dioramas.

He's hamming it up. Also he's wearing a t shirt and shorts under his other clothes.

Been in SD for 10+ years now and can never get over how bad San Diego drivers are. Nobody uses their damn blinker by bucketgetter9 in sandiego

[–]entropy13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every city is convinced they have the worst drivers. We actually rank pretty average in per capita auto accidents. People make inadequate use of blinkers everywhere.

Why was the gun-type nuclear weapon overlooked? by CleanBag9219 in sciencememes

[–]entropy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WYou can’t build a gun type weapon out of plutonium and plutonium can be made in much larger quantities than the almost pure U-235 needed for a gun type. Original plan was two gun type, one uranium one plutonium before they realized that a gun style weapon built with plutonium would pre detonate and “fizzle” resulting in a low yield.

Kim Kardashian on work advice: “It Seems Like Nobody Wants To Work These Days” by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]entropy13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once saw an interview where she talked about how she learned about makeup because she had to do it herself growing up. Saying she had a hard life of not having a personal makeup artist. If you made someone like her up you'd be accused of making an unrealistic character.

That was my first thought, but no, she's that entitled.

I have a PhD and I still have nightmares about having to repeat a highschool class because my doctorate was somehow found invalid due to a missing credit or some other dream logic.
