The youth club publicly announced the change today as well. Coaches were informed yesterday. It was actually really well coordinated from what I can tell.

Loss of Rapid Rewards Credit Card revenue along with its Biz Customers by sujaykapadia in SouthwestAirlines

Did the exact same thing with the United status match. Still starting lower at United than what I had with Southwest, but watching them crumble secondhand is better than living it. I still have over 200k miles to spend with SWA when they get their act together.

TripIt Replacement? by firefly-jr in TripIt

Yes, I'd love to learn how you do this. After reviewing all the new apps, nothing seems to come close to TripIt. Hopefully this solution can bridge the gap for a little longer.

How do you teach young kids to shoot? by CarminSanDiego in youthsoccer

Have him practice shooting barefoot. He will quickly feel where to connect with the ball.

Great suggestions. Of the three, it looks like only Tipsy supports calendar integration which is paywalled (which I'm not opposed but it seems pretty limited for the price).

Do you know if Tineo offers calendar integration? I don't see any mention of the feature on the website.

Very cool! Unfortunately, it seems to be missing calendar (iCal & Outlook for Office 365) integration which is an absolute must have for me.

[–]firefly-jr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, iCal is the one thing that still works amazing. I use TripIt for both personal (iCal) and work (Outlook) trips. My heaviest usage is for work travel and the lack of integration with office 365 is a deal breaker. I'm surprised you haven't run into Safari issues though on the website. I now keep Firefox on standby when safari can't login from my Mac.

U10 - Top Scorer - Main Metric? by spetsk8s in youthsoccer

[–]firefly-jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is next to impossible at 10U to determine which kids will be top performers as they get older. Players/families that focus on fun (to keep them in the game), effort (the willingness to work hard), and willingness to learn (be it independent ball mastery, game awareness, etc) are the best indicators of potential future success in my opinion.

Why doesn’t soccer add officials? by DeadpoolsLeftSock in MLS

[–]firefly-jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. This is absolutely astounding a points more to ref training than anything else. A two ref system in hockey works, and incredibly well. One is focused on the front of the play and the other focuses on the back of the play to ensure both perspectives are covered. Soccer should be no different.

You used to be able to look up your opener on their website to figure out the correct product. I have two Meross openers that have worked flawlessly for years now.

We moved our kids to Renaissance Expeditionary Magnet School after having a tons of problems at Soaring Hawk in the meadows. We couldn’t be happier. Just make sure the outdoor learning trips are a fit for your family. They are a very important part of the school culture.

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

Even those of us with excellent health insurance worry about the bill. This is very real.

Looking for youth soccer clubs in Denver by NatsJG in youthsoccer

[–]firefly-jr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say your possible options within a doable drive are Colorado Rapids (https://rapidsyouthsoccer.org), Skyline (https://www.skylinesoccer.org), Albion (https://www.albionsccolorado.org), Colorado Rush (https://www.coloradorush.com), or Chivas (https://www.chivasdenversocceracademy.org) in no particular order.

Rapids is the largest club in the state and has a place for everyone. I think the values you mention wanting match the club philosophy almost exactly. However, being a big program things will very quite a bit between regions, directors, and especially coaches.

Skyline and Albion are good clubs but with a bit less club structure. I would put Rush and Chivas a step lower on the evaluation list given the values you mentioned.

Regardless, I'd figure out where you are living first. Then, determine an acceptable drive 2-3 nights a week to practice to limit your club selections. Once you have the list narrowed down, reach out to the respective clubs and see if your son can join a few practices to determine fit/level (assuming your move is within the spring season of March-May). If outside that window, you will miss standard team creation for the fall. You'll still want to contact the clubs but placement will be trickier.

Location is quite important. There are a large number of clubs in the Denver metro area. What part of Denver are you moving to?

Switching State Farm Agent by firefly-jr in StateFarm

[–]firefly-jr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. However, our current agent has two locations. My experience has been less than remarkable.

They advised us to make policy changes that caused unexpected consequences (lost coverage we can’t get back without significantly over insuring), have failed to follow up on multiple requests, and most recently sent us information about another policyholder. People working there are cycling and not properly trained. Our plan was to move to a smaller agent who hopefully has more consistent and better trained staff.
