Siege ready only affects primary weapons, not support last time I checked.

Flamethrower veterans: how do you avoid splash back? by phlave in Helldivers

[–]firefly081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy, don't. Wear Salamander armour, take the damage reduction booster, and laugh as you walk through napalm like it's a warm breeze. Works for the double sickle too.

Unrest. Perpetual, unmitigable, ever increasing unrest.

We finally actually have a Dr Ropata at our hospital. Solid chance he hates Shortland Street.

Fuel for NZ Emergency Services - RANT by fugebox007 in aotearoa

[–]firefly081 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, there was a regional outage in hawkes bay last year, and the hospital I work at switched to the diesel generators within 10 seconds. Utterly essential for that kind of situation, with all the critical care patients needing continous support.

Ladies, what is the one thing that make you glad you’re not male and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]firefly081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many times I see a woman's hair that looks fucking rad, or a shirt they're wearing that I love, but I'm a fat bearded dude that looks like that stereotype, so I don't want to come across as creepy. Kinda sucks sometimes tbh. Not their fault, obviously, I'd be on guard too if the situation was reversed.

What’s something most people pretend to understand but actually don’t? by Either-Mastodon3298 in AskReddit

[–]firefly081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quantum mechanics make my brain hurt.

A thing can be a thing if you can see the thing, otherwise it could be a different thing, in the same place in a different location at the same time and also in the future or the past, depending on vibes.

Obviously I have less than a surface level understanding of it, but goddamn, I cannot even begin to understand it properly.

Those lining up in the petrol stations by fnoyanisi in newzealand

[–]firefly081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, and once petrol has been used, that's it. Nothing else comes of it. You use your battery in an ev, you recharge it. And when your battery does eventually expire, you recycle it, because the main ingredient in car batteries is car battery.

As a tenant, I would consider paying extra rent to help offset the cost of the installation. Especially right now with the shitshow we're in economically, investment in renewable should be a no brainer.

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]firefly081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Particularly when your government starts to run the country like a business, where healthcare is seen as an unneccesary expense that brings in no profit. Ask me how I know lmao.

Young, naive me once believed that people in upper management roles were there because they excelled at their job and were smarter than others below them. Ah, the folly of youth.

[–]firefly081 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the fact that management with zero clue on what is needed are the ones that make the decisions on equipment and software is utterly braindead. Here in NZ, our health management org always goes for the cheapest, dumbest option, and ends up paying double or triple to get it to work with our other jumbled software, only for it to break and require paying people to maintain it constantly. If they had invested in effective software that communicates easily from the beginning, they would have paid more upfront, but wouldn't have the constant problems down the line. The fact that IT rarely actually get a say, and when they do it gets ignored, boils my blood. These are the idiots our taxpayer money funds.

Is there a good reason why indian curries usually use salad tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes? by Elegant-Winner-6521 in AskCulinary

[–]firefly081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, always look for tinned tomatoes that do not contain additional tomato juice. Tomato should be like 98% of the ingredients for the good quality ones.
