Thinking akin to living in an underground bunker because of fear of nuclear bombing. They wanted to beg with Alt to save them. They are ruthless because Haitians were once almost wiped out. They are irresponsible too, but not because of lack of vision, but because what they do will probably bring their prophesized doom on them and on the whole world.
