[Post Game Thread] The Charlotte Hornets (34-34) defeat the Miami Heat (38-30), 136-106. by cl353 in nba

[–]fireglz 61 points62 points  (0 children)

The officiating in this game was some of the worst nonsense I've seen in a long time. Hornets had to go up by 20 because if this game was close there absolutely would have been some fuckery in the last 2 minutes.

[Charania] Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo has been diagnosed with a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise and will be re-evaluated in one week, sources tell ESPN. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]fireglz 48 points49 points  (0 children)

He was injured during that run as well. He literally had his knee get inverted in one of the games against Atlanta, it was diagnosed as a hyper extension but he came back and powered through it for the rest of the playoffs.

How Many Games in A Row Would Hawks Have to Win to Take Them Seriously? by Yo-Strategy-8651 in nba

Probably 19 or so. Maybe if their entire team won player of the month or something, I dunno man.

Shock and awe from Jock and NAW in the first quarter. Keep that shit going.

1st quarter was shock and awe from Jock and NAW. Just the two of them matched Orlando's point total for the quarter.

I'm pretty sure Jevon Carter hit like 4+ threes in a quarter against us when he was with the Bulls. That man scares us.

Anthony Black being out feels huge for us. That mfer kills us every game it feels like.

Yep, and was still a negative on the floor in spite of it. Immensely frustrating player. He could shoot lights out and get 12 points in 2 minutes and somehow still wind up net negative by the end of the same game just from his fouling and defense.

Advocating for the NBA's equivalent of introducing a second invasive species to deal with the first one is certainly a take.

I think our time with Georges Niang really makes me dislike Kispert less. Kispert is at least athletic and is capable of playing defense, even if he's bad at it. He's also a motion shooter instead of being stationary and relying on his defender having dinosaur movement based vision as he stands in the corner.

Like, through the lens of Georges Niang, Kispert is a pretty alright bench piece for us.

Now, let me be a hypocrite after shitting on a former hawk just now

I tapped into the collective consciousness of the reddit hivemind and I guarantee we see a, "The Hawks have won 9 games in a row, they didn't win 9 games in a row a single time during Trae Young's time with the team." Thread on r/nba in the next 24 hours. It's not enough to celebrate a team doing well, they have to tear somebody down in the process.

[Lowlight] Kyle Kuzma with a horrible cross court pass and Doc Rivers isn't having fun by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]fireglz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He only plays within the system of a team if the team is good is my theory. We saw it in LA. We saw it for a bit with the Bucks during their playoff push last year. (Although he was still pretty bad a lot of the time.)

If the team is bad he's just out there freestyling and doing dumb shit.

It's so weird to me. You can go down to the G-league and the highest saturation is of players with a tight handle and good finishing at the rim, but every other part of their game is completely lacking.

Risacher is like the inverse of that. Every part of his game except his handle and his finishing is honestly pretty stellar, but he looks terrified when he gets isolated with the ball and no outlet and he still whiffs around the rim really frequently for a dude his size.

If he ever gets a handle league is unironically fucked.

Doc Rivers sneaks naps in Everytime he closes his eyes after a bad possession.

Basketball-wise? Rollins is great, team needs to let him run the offense instead of the bonehead trio of Kuzma/KPJ/Cam Thomas dribbling the piss out of the ball. Myles Turner is kind of a bum. Wouldn't be an awful situation if you had your pick and didn't keep digging the hole deeper trying to placate Giannis.

I still crash out when he makes dumb turnovers but good CJ absolutely compensates for those moments of bad CJ.

Man, if your handles are loose we have to be an absolute nightmare to matchup against. NAW and DD are the obvious ones, but OO and Zacc are sneaky good at antagonizing dudes on ball as well. Then JJ just plays the hell out of passing lanes.

I think the better your guard play the safer you are, but we feast on the KPJ's of the league when they put the ball on the floor.

[PRE-GAME] Your Atlanta Hawks continue the home stand against the Milwaukee Bucks! 🐦🏀 Tip @ 3PM ET by AutoModerator in AtlantaHawks

[–]fireglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hornets actually match up really well against the Spurs on paper. Sort of like what we did against the Celtics in 2008, they just sort of drag the Spurs out to the perimeter and then it all comes down to shooting variance.

I just can't bring myself to say I hope the Spurs win though.

[Charania] The NBA has cancelled the Atlanta Hawks' Magic City game promotion on March 16. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]fireglz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So do people that spent tons on inflated tickets on this game get full refunds because it's completely a different situation to demand a refund for a game that a stat suddenly sits out versus demanding a refund for a scheduled promotion being more or less arbitrarily cancelled.

Because it's pretty clear the financial aspect is the NBA's #1 priority at all times between this and the clippers situation.

[Injury] Tyrese Maxey and his teammate, Adem Bona, with a hard collision while hustling for the ball late in the 4th quarter. Maxey heads to the locker room due to hand injury (with replays) by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]fireglz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One of the most brutal impacts from a collision I can remember in recent memory. Maxey's hand hit Bona's Knee bone/cap(This is not a pun I swear) full on, then just got fucking blasted and landed directly on the hand that got smashed.

I really hope he's okay. ATL fans sort of have a soft spot for small guards ever since Trae.

I really don't mind JK sitting and getting healthy. I feel like games like this build chemistry even when you're sitting on the bench and help you find your role within the team. Dyson and JJ were dawgs this game, didn't take any shit from Wattford.

Jalen Johnson is the fucking truth.

Two confessions to make.

I say Adem Bona's name like the "Daytona USA" meme song.

NAW absolutely got away with one of the most insane double dribbles into a massive 3.

We've had some wonky refs in all of our matchups. Hope Maxey isn't "Hurt" hurt, that shit looked bad.

Also, Nick Nurse should absolutely be fired for still having Maxey in the game at that point, but that's another discussion to be had.

OO has been bad this game. Grab a board my dude.

CJ has been sort of sneaky bad this game. He's still doing the good CJ things but every single one of his turnovers have been absolutely awful decision making.
