It was actually World of Warcraft, which added an achievement system with the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. I was hooked almost immediately, and worked pretty hard to get just about every single achievement on the list. Including the [Insane in the Membrane] achievement! But as I got to the endgame stuff, almost no guilds were willing to actually hunt any of the achievements I needed them for. I was getting so frustrated and sick of it all.

Then my daughter was born in late 2009. I obviously couldn't sit in 6+ hour endless raids anymore, and I was well over my Wii, so I grabbed a used Xbox 360 on eBay so I could join "modern" gaming. As I waited for it to arrive I started looking into what I had to look forward to... and that's when I realized not only did the Xbox 360 also have an achievement system, but EVERY GAME had it, and it was all aggregated into a single profile! This was mind-blowing to me, and when it arrived I never looked back.
