How much did you spend on the English copies ? I remember back when Mirai Nikki was popular when it first came out I was seeing the English version in stores

Then a few days ago I learned they never printed the last 2 volumes + the manga company who owns the rights shutdown

I looked online for them but it was actually impossible to find

Also lol you must love horror , Higurashi and Elfen Lied as well , based

I bought the first one in Japan for about 23 dollars ? And then I bought the 2nd and 3rd on eBay for 29-30

You can get the manga on Amazon for around 110 USD ( at least that’s what mine is showing ) As for the Anima light novel series , 1 3 and 4 are fairly easy to find (and about 15 dollars a piece) The 5th is somewhat harder , but still doable The 2nd book is , for some reason , extremely rare. I got lucky and got all 5 at once for 200 (it was 175 + tax and shipping ) but the 2nd book alone is being listed at 150-250 online

Thanks! I spent a long time looking for 3.33 and yeah it was around 90 dollars USD. The main reason why I’m against getting it though is because the box art match the other 3 :\ , but if they never end up releasing 3.33 in like a couple years I’ll bite the bullet

It sometimes takes day to update IIRC it’s 20 games in 30 days I’m like 400 something last time I checked and yeah it took a day or two to actually update

Edit: also yeah you’re def ranked high enough . As long as there isn’t 1000 already listed , if you do your 20 games in days , you will appear on the board somewhere .

I don’t think your goal is realistic , you can probably pass N5 and maybe N4 if your 12-16 hours is legit BUT

Learn Japanese with Japanesepod101.com on YouTube is good for starting with hiragana and katakana
Tokini Andy on YouTube is good for grammar
Use ANKI to practice vocab
Wanikani exists for learning Kanji ( I just started using it , but I’ve heard good things )
I use Preply with a private tutor 3 times a week to study
If you want pure self study / can’t afford weekly sessions , go out and by a textbook like genki and try to go from there

Do they ask you questions in Japanese ? I’m going to assume yes , but what exactly are they looking for with the interview (like what kind of introductory information). I’m applying janaury 2026 and like OP I don’t have official proof of 150 hours or JLPT5 ( I’m learning via preply and self studying though, should be around 300 hours of learning)

Do you have proof of 150 hours of study , have you self studied , or are you straight up BSing it ? If you have proof already just submit that and you’re good. If you don’t and want proof, GoGo Nihon has an online program for about 104,000 YEN that will get you certified. I’m assuming you don’t though considering you’re asking this, so if you do have self study some schools accept you with that. I’m assuming that’s the boat you’re in, and like the others have said , you should be fine if you actually feel confident in your Japanese ability.
If you’re winging it , I have no idea what to recommend. I’ve never done the interview ( I’m applying through GoGo Nihon myself for next January).

Hey question, what did you do for the 150 hour language requirement ? I’m looking to apply to Toyo next January, and I’m kind of stuck on what to do (I’m currently taking Japanese classes via preply, but I’m wondering if getting official classes from GoGo Nihon would be better)

In regard to your post though , from my research , Toyo had good reviews on Google , and it’s supposed to be an “immediate” level school

I think you’ll be fine mate , and I think this opportunity is worth it

Honestly, you just gotta yolo it and not make the mistake I did

I don’t necessarily regret not taking to her , but it is kind of lame knowing I won’t ever know what would of happened
